ConceptDialoguecanbeapowerfulcatalystfortransformativelearningandsystemicchange.ThisisthecentralideabehindaninitiativecalledVernissageHealth™,are-interpretationofthe18thcentury“salon”asaforumforcontemporaryleadershipdevelopment.SupportedbyIHPMEandRotmanfaculty,VernissageHealth™isaninnovativeleadershipdevelopmentopportunityin2020.
VernissageHealth™bringstogethertwoleadershipgroupsina“salon”environmentfordialogueaboutleadershipandhealthsystemtransformation:graduatestudentsfromtheInstituteforHealthPolicy,ManagementandEvaluation(IHPME)andtheRotmanSchoolofManagementembarkingoncareersinhealth(emergingleaders)andlatecareerseniorexecutivesandleadersintransitionfromestablished,successfulcareersacrossbroadsectorsinhealth(experiencedleaders).ThescopeofexperiencedleaderswillincludeCEOsandseniorexecutivesintheprivateandpublicsectors–consultants,hospitals,advocacyandprofessionalassociations,government,andphysicianleadersinmanagement.
Dialoguesessionsprovideauniqueopportunityfortheseleaderstoselfreflect,shareexperiences,andexchangeconceptsandideasaboutleadership.Ultimately,thisuniqueexperiencewillhelpimpactanddevelopemergingleaderswhocansuccessfullynavigatepositivechangewithinCanada’shealthsystemforthefuture.
ObjectivesThedialoguesessionsaredesignedtoprovideapositive,informallearningenvironmentthatachievesthefollowingobjectives:
• fostersinsightsandauthenticconversationaboutleadershipandleadingchangeinhealthorganizations,thebroaderhealthsystem,thecommunityandsocietyatlarge;
• allowsnetworking,createsrelationshipandsharedlearningamongandbetweenparticipantswhoareemergingandexperiencedleadersinhealth;
• providestheopportunitytoexaminediverseexperiences,thoughtsandinsightsaboutthechallengesfacinghealthleadersnowandinthefuture
• allowsparticipantstolearnaboutandexperiencedialogueanditscoreelementsasaformofcommunicationthatcanfacilitateengagement,changeandtransformation.
ThefoundationofVernissageHealth™isaseriesoffivesmallgroupsessions—or“hostedconversations”–scheduledonMondaysfromJanuarytoApril2020.Herearethedetails:
