Representing Your Community The Ottawa Multicultural Media Initiative (OMMI) Photography Contest The OMMI is looking for original photos that represent communities in Ottawa. Are there aspects of your community that you want others to see? If you do, then this is your chance to showcase your community through photography. Contest Details What: Through the lens of your camera, capture the aspect(s) of your community that speak to you and that you want others to see. You may submit only one photograph. Your photo must be accompanied by a caption/title which can be in any language you speak! Eligibility: You must currently be a university or college student in Ottawa. You must self-identify with and your photograph should capture aspect(s) of one of the following communities: Chinese, Spanish-Speaking Latin American, South Asian, or Somali. Your photo must be exclusive to this OMMI contest and unpublished. Selection Process: Entries will be evaluated based on: originality, artistic expression, creativity, and quality of the photograph and the quality of the photo caption/title. Prize: The best two photographs from each community will be selected. Each winner will receive $50 cash prize. Submission Deadline: June 20, 2016. Entry: Submit your entry to [email protected] with “OMMI Photography Contest” in the subject line. Use the caption/title of your photo as the file name of your email attachment. Disclaimer: By entering the OMMI Photography Contest, you are acknowledging that the submitted photo is an original work created solely by you. Winning photos will be featured on the OMMI project website. The winners will grant OMMI the right to use these photographs to promote representations of ethnocultural communities in Ottawa by displaying, publishing, or exhibiting the photos in various media outlets. Proper acknowledgement will be given to the photographers.
