The world ‘alternative’ displays that my magazine is aimed at fans of alternative and indie music.

Featuring bands such as ‘The arctic monkeys’ and ‘Oasis’ in my magazine also represents people who are interested in alternative indie music. I also think that these two bands biggest fan base is around the same age as mine, around 16-20.

I think the mise-en-scene of the person represents young people in general. With young trendy clothing and also the fact that he is the same age as the target market (16-20).

‘British music’ diversifies the indie music target market even further. It shows that the magazine is aimed at the lovers of British alternative music.

Typical band mise-en-scene e.g. guitars + drums denote a rock/indie genre of music.

The urban landscape represents people who live in urban areas.

The brick wall background also gives a ‘street’ image to the contents page. This implies that the magazine is aimed at people who hang round streets e.g. teenagers.

The 4 photos on my double paged spread are all in urban settings. This gives the representation of teenagers who hang around streets. The relaxed positions also denote a laid back person.

Again, like the front cover and contents page, my double paged spread has a brick wall background. The brick wall also gives representations of teenagers who hang round streets

Does my media product represent particular social groups?

• In terms of social groupings, I have found it hard to pin a specific social group to my magazine. However it is easy to see through my magazine design and mise-en-scene that my magazine represents teenagers in many ways. If I was to re-design my magazine I would probably give it a more defined target audience that aims at a specific social group.
