REPRESENTATION

The image was shot in a studio which backs up what Richard Dyre says that ‘A star is an image’. The photo being shot in a studio proves this because its not a natural atmosphere it is staged just like the person she is coming off as is, not really like that just an image to fit the criteria of that specific magazine.

REPRESENTATION

Cheryl still looks quite feminine because she does have her make up done even though it has smudged due to the water, her hair doesn’t have a particular style because it is wet. This feminine look is agreeing with what Laura Mulvey believes ‘women do things to please men’. However I believe the fact she is wearing all black contradicts this at the same time.

REPRESENTATION

She wears all black showing she may have a slight rock chick inside of her, this does not stick to typical gender typing. Just like Stuart Hall said ‘things are changing representationcant be fixed and shouldchange too.’ Cheryl is following this because she doesn’t look like a typical house wife, she looks independent and slightly rebellious, breaking the gender stereotyping.
