Dear Friends,Thank you for your commitment and support of the Denison
Pequotsepos Nature Center. Each of you makes a difference — enlivening our programs, enriching our mission and expanding our impact — on a daily basis.
In this report, we list those members and friends who in 2013 supported our spring and fall appeals, sponsored our Green Tie Gala, gave to support spe-cial programs such as the Concert for Conservation, and, of course, the Cam-paign to Save Coogan Farm, which itself netted more than $4.1 million. Every donation to the Nature Center extends our mission to new audiences and strengthens DPNC as a steward of Coogan Farm, Peace Sanctuary, Ma-natuck Preserve and other regional treasures.
We are fortunate that so many friends came forward during the Coogan Campaign to make it such a success. Through your generosity, our partnership with The Trust for Public Land, and the hard work of many volunteers, we’ve completed the purchase of the 34 acres on Route 27. Together with 11 acres donated by the Coogan family, this protects an important
cultural landscape for future generations and creates a continu-ous greenway from the Nature Center’s education facility to the Mystic River.
The acquisition of Coogan Farm will expand and redefine the Nature Center’s role in the community as a place where nature and history shape our future. Yet many of the programs, hikes and summer camp activities remain fondly the same. It is, after all, these programs and activities that encouraged many on this donor roll to support DPNC and its Campaign to Save Coogan Farm.
Looking forward, we are confident the Nature Center will continue to be
the model for conservation, environmental education, sustain-ability and recreation engendered by the heartfelt community spirit that has led to our success.

Returning to Mystic to perform music in support of the Nature Center has become a wonderful tradition that I look forward to each year. Music is its own reward, but music in support of na-ture education and conservation is particularly special to me. As a kid, the Nature Center helped illuminate the world around me. Nature has had an inherent impact on my music. My participa-tion in Concerts for Conservation expresses my gratitude for the Nature Center’s work.
