“Y-V-4 “LEAD CLUB” (Youth Voice For –Life Even After Death) Club,
an idea that stemmed from an awareness activity conducted in Christ (Deemed to
be University) Main Campus under the guidance of Dr. Mary Tariang on the
importance of Organ Donation and Transplantation .This awareness session
paved the path towards formulating the club that intent to empower students and
general public with adequate knowledge about the importance of organ donation
and to educate their role in spreading the awareness.Post rigorous meetings and
multiple discussions the club emerged in the month of August 2019 with an
objective to destigmatize about organ donation and in collaboration with
MOHAN Foundation a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization started to
promote organ donation in 1997 in Chennai by philanthropists and medical
professionals led by Dr. Sunil Shroff.
In India around 6000 die every day waiting for organ transplant, every 17
minutes someone dies waiting for transplant, every 13 minutes someone is added
to a waiting list. About 1,00,000 is the number of kidney transplant that are
required in India every year. There is a huge need for organs. With such an
alarming rate it is the misconceptions and lack of awareness that are the sole
reasons.

students Christ (Deemed to be University) aims to address the myths,
misconceptions and stigma towards organ donation through various awareness
campaigns and activities. This initiative by Ms. Krishna Priya P S, MSW student

doer, be a donor, donate organs, change the ending to someone’s story’. The
