Riphah International University Media Coverage of PM Turkey’s Visit Dated: February 20, 2015 The visiting Prime Minister of Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoglu has said that great challenge for Muslim Ummah today is transformation of minds according to our values as no civilization flourishes on the basis of military ascendancy or economic superiority. He was delivering a lecture organized by Riphah International University in Islamabad on Tuesday February 17, 2015. He said the civilizations emerge on the basis of moral values and we need to integrate political ethics, social justice and economic progress only then we can set examples for other. He paid great tribute to Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal and said he was man of vision and a great thinker. We need to have people like him to face the challenges of the modern era. He said that terrorist organizations like Daish and some religious groups were misrepresenting Islam by resorting to violence and terrorism while Islam is a religion of peace and freedom. The true image of Islam can emerge only when we transform and train our younger generation in our universities and educational institutions. He particularly appreciated Riphah International University for playing an important role in this regard. The Turkish Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over present situation in Pakistan and said it is strategically located, has vast mineral resources and trained manpower and a capability to progress and gain prominent position in comity of nations. Earlier the Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad welcomed the distinguished guest. Pro-Chancellor of Riphah International University Mr. Hassan M Khan presented the university shield to the honorable Turkish Prime Minister. The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad and Envoys of Turkey, Afghanistan and some other countries were also present. The lecture was attended among others by the deans, directors, senior faculty members and top management of Riphah International University and other institutions. Riphah International University can play significant role in the intellectual development of the Nation – PM Turkey
