Report on Celebration of International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated every year all around the world on 12th of May to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale (the founder of modern Nursing) and to mark the nurses’ contributions towards people’s health and society.

This year theme of the day is:

“Nurses: a voice to lead - achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”

We are celebrating Nurses Day in IIMC T Pakistan Railway Hospital on Saturday 13th of May 2017 at 11 am in Lecture Hall 1.

International Nurses’ Day was observed on May 13, 2017 in IIMCT Pakistan

Railway Hospital under the supervision of Nursing Division. Brig. Ruqqia (Retd)

Ti(M) was the focal person of the event.

In this regard special entertaining program was arranged for Nurses and Nursing

Assistants.

1. Welcoming of the Guests,

a. Ms. Yasmin Sagoo, Principal Yusra Medical College,

b. Brig. Falak, Matron Multan CMH,

c. Brig. Gulfam, Director Nursing Yusra Medical College,

d. Ms Mehtab Sikandar, Director Nursing Max Health Hospital,

e. Dr. Bilal Arshad Butt, Chief MS IIMCT PRH,

f. Dr. Nadir Ayub, MS Railway Hospital

2. Program started by Ms Rubina Shabbir with the name of Allah, Tilawat by

Hafiz Zahid, Hamd by Ishtiaq and Naat by Saiqa.

3. A welcome speech by Brig Ruqqia (Retd.) Manager Nursing Services IIMCT

PRH who emphasized the role of nursing as a back bone in hospital services.

4. Speech on “Importance of Hospital Care & Role of a Nurse in Hospital” by

Nursing Student Mr. Muddassar.

5. Tabloo presented on “Hum Maen Hum Behne” presented by group of Nursing

Students.

6. Video on Florence Nightingale Biography was shown

7. Small Mimicry skit by Staff Rehana Kausar (Snr), Staff Musarat and Midwife

Gulzar on PRH daily working styles.

8. Address by Ms. Yasmin Sagoo, emphasizing the importance and need for

continuous nursing education for nurses and establishment of Nursing College

in Riphah,

9. Address by Brig. Gulfam, Ms Mehtab Sikandar and MS Dr Nadir.

10. Dr. Bilal Arshad Butt Chief Medical Superintendent IIMCT PRH, in his speech

appreciated the efforts of Nurses in complete patient care and emphasized in

continuation of such efforts in future. He also introduced Champions Of Patient

Safety in IIMCT Pakistan Railway Hospital Rawalpindi.

11. There was a Cake Cutting ceremony for International Nurses Day.

12. Ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Brig. Ruqqia to all the guests for giving

their precious time and participants for their attendance.
