REPORT ON AZADI 70 YAAD KARO KURBANI CELEBRATIONS CONDUCTED BY NSS WING OF SCSVMV JOINTLY WITH THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE DURING 19.08.2016 & 22.08.2016 Azadi 70 freedom fortnight events were celebrated at SCSVMV University campus on 19 th and 22 nd of August 2016 by the NSS Wing jointly with the Faculty of Science. Various competitions were conducted to students to inculcate the patriotism among the students. Painting, Elocution and Essay writing competitions were conducted on 19 th August 2016 at the University campus and around 150 participants have participated in total. Poem writing, Slogan writing and singing competitions were conducted on 22 nd of August in the campus and around 50 participants have participated in total. The best performers (6 students) were selected in each category for I, II and III prizes. Valedictory function was organized on 23 rd of August 2016. Mrs.T.N.Kavitha, Asst.Professor of Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Prof.Dr.S.Balaji, Dean, Faculty of Science delivered the presidential address. He motivated the students towards the Nation’s Integrity and Unity. Sri. Jeyaraman Ravindran, Finance officer, SCSVMV addressed the gathering and kindled the patriotism among students. Prof. K.C. Srinivas, Director, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Centre for Advanced Research (SJCAR), SCSVMV gave a talk on the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and stressed the students to be more grateful to them by means of their activities. Prof.Dr.K.Venkatramanan, Head, Department of Physics addressed the gathering about our national anthem writer Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore and his creations. Prof. Dr.K.Sivakumar, Head, Department of Chemistry reminded the sentence- the real freedom lies in the women empowerment- given by our father of nation Mahatma Gandhi and Kanchi Maha Periyava. Prof. C.V.Venkatakrishnan, Professor of Physics sung a patriotic song composed by himself in the event. Best performer of singing event sung the prize won patriotic song. Prizes were distributed to the best performers. Mr.V.Santhanam, Asst. Professor of Chemistry proposed vote of thanks. Mass singing of our National Anthem performed at the University premises at 11.00 am. Staff Coordinators Mrs.T.N.Kavitha, Mrs. S. Vijayabarathi of Mathematics department, Mrs.J.Suganthi of Physics department , Mr.V.Santhanam of Chemistry department, NSS Programme Officers Dr.K.Rajalakshmi, Mr.B.Muthukumaran, Mr.J.S. Shyam Mohan and NSS Programme Coordinator Dr.M.Sundarrajan carried out all the above arrangements. Refreshments were issued to all the participants by the NSS wing.
