REPORT ON ‘SIGMA SUMMIT-RENEWABLE ENERGY EXPO’

In the context of lack of energy access for billions and severe climate change due to energy, the Gandhi Global Solar Yatra, an initiative taken by IIT Mumbai, aims at promoting localized energy self-sufficiency through local communities. A Sigma Summit-Renewable Energy Expo was organized on 28th January, 2019 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Pragati Vihar, New Delhi. Ten Student Solar Ambassadors of DPS Gurgaon, participated in the mega opening of Gandhi Global Solar Yatra. They demonstrated the working of their pre-assembled Solar lamps. It was a good opportunity for them as the occasion was graced by many renowned dignitaries in and outside India, working together in this Mega Global Project The ten students of our school who participated in this event will be invited in the global event to be conducted on 2nd October 2019.It was an enriching experience to hear to some eminent experts like Mr. UpendraTripathy, Director General of International Solar Alliance (former Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy), Dr. Praveen Saxena, CEO, Skill Council for Green Jobs, etc. working in this field to protect our environment and promote Solar Energy.
