About this manual

Purpose and target audience

This manual describes service works on Generation 2012 MEMMERT appliances (as of Oc-tober 2012). It is intended for use by trained personnel of the owner, who have the task ofmaintaining the respective appliance.

If you are asked to work on the appliance, read this manual carefully before starting. Fa-miliarise yourself with the safety regulations. Only perform work that is described in thismanual. If there is something you do not understand, or certain information is missing, askyour manager or contact the manufacturer. Do not do anything without authorisation.

Due to individual configurations and sizes, illustrations in this manual may be slightly dif-ferent from the actual appearance. However, the procedure is always the same.

Other documents that have to be observed:

for the functional test after service, the operating manual of the respective appliance for additional work on the appliance, the respective service manual

Safety regulationsInstallation, repair and maintenance of Memmert appliances that require opening the ap-pliance is only to be carried out by experienced technicians who have undergone electrotechnical training, are familiar with the applicable standards and regulations and thus areable to judge the work assigned to them and recognise possible dangers (in accordancewith DIN VDE 1000-10 and BGV A3).

Danger!

After removing covers, live parts may be exposed. Before working withthe appliance, disconnect it from the power supply (by removing thepower cable from the power supply as well as from the appliance).

Warning!The appliance may still be hot. Touching these surfaces can causeburns. Before starting work, allow the appliance to adjust to roomtemperature if it has just been in use before.

Caution!When dismantling the appliance and for work on the interior, you

could be injured on unprocessed metal edges. You should wear gloves.

Do not leave the appliance switched on after service or repair works and, every time serviceand repair works have been done, perform a safety check in accordance with EN 62638 aswell as a functional test.

Warning!After removal of the hinge screws, the door can come off of theappliance and hit you. Always wear safety boots with protec-

tive toecap. Always have a second person hold the door.1. Open the door by 180.

2. With a Torx screwdriver, re-move the two fixing screwsof the upper door hinge.

3. Carefully take the door offthe appliance by lifting it.

4. With the inside down, putthe door on a smooth andclean surface.

Replacing the handle bar

1. With a flat-head screwdriver,push the outer cover of thehandle bar away.

2. Remove the fixing screws ofthe handle bar (2 screws).

3. Repeat steps 1and 2for the

other side. Take the handlebar off.

4. On both sides, tighten thereplacement handle bar withscrews and push the coversfrom the spare parts set onuntil they lock into place.Then, install the door as de-scribed on page 12.

Replacing the door locking mechanism

1. Push away the inner cover ofthe door locking mechanism

and take it off.

2. With a flat-head screwdriver,push the cover on the side

of the handle bar away andtake it off.

It does not matter if youdamage the covers whenremoving them. For laterinstallation, use the coversfrom the spare parts set.

3. With a flat-head screwdriver,push the inner cover of thedoor locking mechanismaway and take it off.

4. Push the outer cover of thedoor locking mechanismaway from the door (1) witha flat-had screwdriver andat the same time pull it out/upwards by hand (2).

5. Remove the cover.

6. Repeat steps 1to 5on theother side of the door.

7. On both sides, remove the

fixing screws of the handlebar (4 screws). Take the han-dle bar off.

8. Remove the fixing screw ofthe door locking mechanism.

9. Lever out the door lockingmechanism with a flat-headscrewdriver. To do so, pushin the locking catch (1) andlever out the door lockingmechanism upwards (2).

10. Put the replacement doorlocking mechanism in. To doso, push in the locking catch

with a flat-head screwdriverand push the door lockingmechanism into the dooruntil you hear the catch clickinto place.

11. Screw the door lockingmechanism tight.

12. Replace the door locking

mechanism on the other sidein the same way (steps 8to11).

13. Tighten the handle bar onboth sides, with two screwseach.

14. Put on the new side coverfrom the spare parts set. Thethree catches on the insidehave to lock into place in thedoor with an audible click().

"click"15. Put on the cover of the doorlocking mechanism from thespare parts set. Make sureit locks into place with anaudible click.

16. Put on the new outer coverfrom the spare parts set.Make sure it locks into placewith an audible click.

17. Put on the new inner coverfrom the spare parts set.Make sure it locks into placewith an audible click.

18. Repeat steps 14to 17on theother side of the door.

19. Insert the door into thelower hinge carefully.

20. With two screws, attach thedoor to the upper hinge.
