 Federal Judge Upholds Connecticut Gun Law  This morning U.S. Circuit Judge José A. Cabranes upheld Connecticut's gun law, ruling that the state had established a compelli ng state interest in controlling crime. "Judge Cabranes ruling is a win for public safety, and reflects the care and balance in the legislation," said Rep Patricia Dillon. “New York and Connecticut have adequately established a substantial relationship between the prohibition of both semiautomatic assault weapons and large capacity magazines and the important – indeed compelling – state interest in controlling crime,” Judge Cabranes wrote in the decision published Monday, ruling that the post-Newtown gun laws enacted in both states do not violate the Second Amendment right to individual gun ownership. Rep. Dillon said, “Judge Cabranes' ruling is a win for public safety.”

legislation," said Rep Patricia Dillon.

“New York and Connecticut have adequately established a substantial relationship between

the prohibition of both semiautomatic assault weapons and large capacity magazines and

the important – indeed compelling – state interest in controlling crime,” Judge Cabranes
