Added language to the rental registration form & rental registration website
Started notifying property management company of violations (in addition to the property owner)

Summary of Changes Includes civil process / administrative
penalty Requires notarized affidavit from property
owner as part of registration process Requires owner / property manager to
provide copy of current lease upon request

Civil Process / Administrative Penalty Fines range from $180 for the first
offense up to $500 for three or more offenses
Fines structured to encourage payment within 10 days
Each day the violation continues is deemed a separate offense

Notarized Affidavit Required as part of the registration process Will acknowledge that the property is not
(and will not be) occupied by more than four unrelated individuals
Will also state that the property owner / manager has made each tenant aware of the “no more than four unrelated” provision

Copy of Lease Allows the City to request a copy of the lease or leases
Copy of lease would only be retained by prosecutor as part of enforcement action
Not subject to public information act
