Directions to the Washington County Fair:From the Albany Area: The Washington County Fair is just 13 miles from Interstate 87. Take Interstate 87 (AdirondackNorthway) to exit 14. Follow the signs for Schuylerville and Route 29 East. Take Route 29 East through Schuylerville,cross the Hudson River and up the hill. The Fairgrounds will be on the left after you crest the hill. Turn left just pasthe Fairgrounds on the Old Schuylerville Road and follow the signs. During fair hours, there will be parking personnelo direct you to the proper parking area.

From the Glens Falls, N.Y. Area: The Washington County Fair is just 13 miles from Interstate 87. Take Interstate 87Adirondack Northway) to Exit 15. Stay left on the Exit 15 ramp. Follow the signs for Schuylerville and Route 29 East.

Take Route 29 East through Schuylerville, across the Hudson River and up the hill. The Fairgrounds will be on the leftfter you crest the hill. Go past the Fairgrounds and turn left on to Old Schuylerville Road and follow the signs to the

parking areas. There will be parking attendants.From the Troy, N.Y. Area: Follow Route 40 North through Schaghticoke and north to the intersection of Route 40 &Route 29. Turn left on to Route 29 and go six-tenths of a mile. Turn right on to Old Schuylerville Road and follow theigns to the parking areas. There will be parking attendants to direct you to the proper parking area.

Heading into its 169th year in 2014, the VermontState Fair is an immensely popular event that isheld annually in Rutland. It is also one of the oldeststate fairs in the United States in a beloved traditiondating back to 1846!The fair started out as just a single day gatheringhat happened once a year somewhere in RutlandCounty. But it wasnt long before the fair becamepopular enough to warrant its own permanenthome, and in 1859 the Rutland Fair moved to a

new location which still serves as the fairgroundoday.The Rutland Fair became a three day event beforehe turn of the century and by 1926, the Rutland

Fair was ranked as among the ten best state fairsn the entire nation.Finally, in 1972 the Rutland Fair became officiallyknown as the Vermont State Fair.Today the Vermont State Fair is a 10-day end ofsummer event this year kicking off on Friday,August 29 and running through to Sunday,September 7, 2014.with tickets available at the official Vermont StateFair website at vermontstatefair.net.

Animals and livestock, of course, are still a bigpart of the show, and can be found racing, winning

ibbons, and performing for festival goers of allages. Also to be found at the fair are populardemolition derbies, monster trucks, and a hugeassortment of amusement park rides.And what would a state fair be without food andentertainment? There are enough food vendorso satisfy every taste, and there is a huge amount

of free entertainment at the fair, plus separateicket purchases for top headliners.
