How to find a removal company

When choosing a moving company, it is wise to do some research before making a selection, and to ask your family and friends for the names of companies they recommend. It is also useful to call organizations such as the Better Business Bureau for a list of suggested movers. You may want to find out if the mover is a member of an association of movers or a certified reputable mover program.

Questions ask from a removal company?

What level and type of insurance cover is offered?

Are they members of The British Association of Removers If not why not?

How long has the company been trading and can they supply references?

How will the move be carried out? E.g. number of days, time of arrival, crew size etc.

What will security be like if your goods are on a vehicle overnight?

Do you have an office or depot I can visit?

Make sure you are protected

Choosing a removal firm that has committed to BAR membership is a good starting point because it shows they're willing to be held up to a minimum standard.

BAR members have minimum standards of conduct for membership which will be in your interests such as legal, licensed vehicles, protection for your deposit & free conciliation in the unlikely event something goes wrong.

Few more tips

Look for reviews online on websites like Angies List, Google or Yelp.

Look for the local mover who communicates clearly. They should be able to tell you specifically what services will be performed and at what cost.

Check the movers complaint history. BBB Business Reviews include a companys complaint history with the BBB.

Also, make sure the mover has insurance.
