Although Rindge appears to be a sleepy little town nested between Mount Monadnock and Mount Watatic it is richwith history Founded by rugged individuals in 1750, it was incorporated as a township in 1768 These brave men andwomen cleared the wilderness, tilled the soil, and built home many of which stand toda

The thick forests of he town provided ample lumber and in 800 Rindge became a bustling mill town unrivaled by noother All manner of woodenware was manufactured here. Some of our earliest mills have survived he centuries including "Lillys on the Pond (formerly the Old Forge Restaurant) and the home of Lawrence Peabody located on Cutter HillRoad By the beginning of the twentieth century, the woodenware industry came to an abrupt stop and Rindge became afavorite place of tourists with its lovely lakes and beautiful forests it became a haven for hundreds of city dwellers whoocked here for the summer. Wodbund nn has been greeting such guests for one hunre and seventy five years

Rndge can also boast of the bravery and patriotism of its men rom the Revolutionary War through Desert Stormmen an women from Rindge have answeed the call o their countr A stone in Rindge ommon marks the spot wherethe Minutemen left to march o Boson. The walls of the Meeting House display plaues with the names of those whoserved in the Civil War. he Rindge Memorial School has a paque honoring those who fought in Word War II hen ofcourse there is the most famous monument of all he Cathedral  of the Pines

It is the goal of the Rindge Historical Society to preserve and appreciate the efforts of those who have gone before us
