He ventured farther and saw a huge lake, a thousand times bigger than the well. From there he walked a long way and came to the ocean, where everywhere he looked all he could see was water. He was shocked and began to real- ize how limited his thinking had been. Once he thought he had everything in the well. But now he realized what he had was very little when com- pared to what God wanted him to enjoy. God’s plans for us are so much bigger and greater than we can imagine. So many times we are like that little frog. We have been enclosed in our own little well. It is all we have ever known—a certain level of living and a certain way of thinking. All the while, God has so much in store for us. God has oceans he wants you to enjoy. But we settle for too little.

There is an old story about a little frog

that was born at the bottom of a small

well. He and his family lived there

happily and they were content with that little world

where they could play in the water swimming all

around. He thought life is not going to get any

better than this. But one day he looked up and no-

ticed the light at the top of the well. He became

curious wondering what was up there. He slowly

climbed up the side of the well. When he got to

the top, he cautiously peered out over the edge.

The first thing he saw was a pond. It was much

bigger than the well. He ventured farther and saw

a huge lake, a thousand times bigger than the well.

From there he walked a long way and came to the

ocean, where everywhere he looked all he could

see was water. He was shocked and began to real-

ize how limited his thinking had been. Once he

thought he had everything in the well. But now he

realized what he had was very little when com-

pared to what God wanted him to enjoy.

God’s plans for us are so much bigger and greater

than we can imagine. So many times we are like

that little frog. We have been enclosed in our own

little well. It is all we have ever known—a certain

level of living and a certain way of thinking. All

the while, God has so much in store for us. God

has oceans he wants you to enjoy. But we settle

for too little.

Mass this week Wednesday for the holy day of the As-

sumption of Mary. All are welcome. Mass is at 6:30 pm.

• Do you enjoy kids and/or teens?

• Do you have a desire to deepen your own faith?

Helping with the parish religious education program could

be a perfect fit for you! As a catechist you use the provided

materials to teach a group of children or teens. We have

options for lead catechists and co-catechists available. You

are provided with training and on-going support. One of the

best ways to grow in our own knowledge and love of our

Catholic Faith is to teach it to others. It is a very fulfilling

experience to see that a young person is making a connec-

tion or being drawn in by the Truth. There are many oppor-

tunities to say in answer to a child’s question, “I don’t

know, but I will find out for you.” And when the answer is

found and shared with the child, there is the satisfaction of

expanding our own understanding as well.

We also have openings for classroom aides at all grade lev-

els. As an aide you assist the catechist with projects and

assignments and help the kids stay on task.

People willing to serve as substitute catechists on a per need

basis are always needed as well.

Finally, we have opportunities for occasional service such

as opening night hospitality, children’s celebrations, and

other once or twice a year events.

Please prayerfully consider if you could support our parish

religious education program by volunteering in some capac-

ity. We welcome parents, grandparents, single adults, and

mature teens! Please contact Kathy Ruhland kathyruh-

[email protected] or 507-364-7981.

MOST HOLY REDEEMER CHURCH GIFT OF TIME & TALENT :

For sewing altar cloths, baptismal towels, the monstrance cover, and other misc. ministry cloth

repairs and creations. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the church.

Week 5 in a series about Eucharistic Adoration:

Does It Really Do Any Good?

Yes, it really does! This one hour can change your mood, your out-look, or even change your life – always for the better because of the

Real Presence of Christ. Pope John Paul II, called by many “The Pope of the Real Presence,” strongly encouraged all of the faithful to participate in Eu-charistic Adoration as a welcome refuge from a world that demands our eve-ry moment and all of our attention – and often robs us of our time and energy to connect with God through prayer and proper reflection. Regular participa-tion in Eucharistic Adoration does provide that opportunity to slow down,

breathe deep, and focus for a moment on our “inner life.”
