To Whom It May Concern, We have received letters requesting relics of Blessed Sara Salkahzi. We are delighted to know that so many people are interested in Blessed Sara. Due to the circumstances of her death we are not able to provide for relics. Here I try to explain, why:

Blessed Sara died as martyr during World War II, in Budapest. She was shot at the banks of the river Danube, together with her co-worker Vilma Bernovits (who was a catechist) and a small group of Jewish women whom she wanted to shelter. The bodies were thrown into the icy river. This time Budapest was under siege by the Russians with constant bombings, the city itself was controlled by Germans and their allied Hungarian Nazis. During that period countless bodies were thrown into the Danube, the river carried away corpses of innocent civilians, executed members of resistance and fallen soldiers This is the reason, why there are no available earthly remains of Blessed Sara.

After the war came the communist suppression: religious communities had to go underground: institutions, possessions were confiscated.

What was preserved almost miraculously is her cilicium, but it is such a treasure for our community that it is not accessible: we are not giving it away in little pieces for the public as a relic.

What we are able to send you is a holy card with her picture which also containsa little piece of cloth that was touched to her cilicium.

Instead of sending a relic for public veneration, we offer you some treasures from her spiritual heritage. On her feast (May 11) or other occasions when you would like to commemorate Blessed Sara, you could use for example the Holy Hour that our sisters compiled from Blessed Saras writings. These and other information you can find on the web-page that the Sisters of Social Service created for the beatification: www.salkahazisara.com

Sincerely yours in Christ:
