ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
A Project usually falls short of its expectation unless guided by the right person at
the right time. Success of a project is an outcome of sincere efforts, channeled in
the right direction, efficient supervision and the most valuable professional
guidance.
This project would not have been completed without the direct and indirect help
and guidance of such luminaries. They provide me with the necessary resources
and atmosphere conducive for healthy learning and training.
At the outset I would like to take this opportunity to gratefully acknowledge the
very kind and patient guidance I have received from my project guide Mrs. Kiran
Bajaj ( Goa & Maharashtra circle Video conferencing lead ) without her critical
evaluation and suggestion at every stage of the project, this report could not have
reached its present form. Also

PGDM(RM) batch06-08, BIRLA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT
TECHNOLOGY for his technical and moral support required for the realization of
this project report.

VIDEO CONFERENCING
VIDEO CONFERENCING INDUSTRY
The industry today is gradually moving from group systems to desktop video
conferencing systems. Apart from large enterprises, lots of small and medium
businesses are adapting video conferencing solutions. We are also witnessing the
shift of the industry from Video Conferencing through PC to televisions.
Customers today prefer television to a PC screen due to clarity of voice and video
through a single device.
Video conferencing is an invaluable human resource management tool.
Any organization that relies upon geographically separated resources can benefit
from video conferencing.
Growth in Video Conferencing service usage in today’s world :
Apparel makers use it to review concepts, artwork, type proofs and sales and
marketing collateral.
Manufacturing companies leverage it for comprehensive quality assurance and real
time process and equipment monitoring
Healthcare providers employ video conferencing to enhance continuity of care, and
legal teams use it to standardize and therefore streamline caseworks
Retailers use it to display merchandise and thereby specify color and style. And
recommend price and advertising messages.
18
Pharmaceutical companies use video conferencing technology to launch new
products.
Applications of video conferencing:
Executive, task force and board member meetings
Product development and product review
Distance learning and training
Key personnel recruitments
Telemedicine and healthcare provisioning
Consulting
Inter-company meetings with customers, suppliers and partners

Video Conferencing@Reliance Webworld
How It Works
When you Schedule a Video Conference at Reliance World. We reserve your slot
in all the locations that you wish to be connected to in your Conference.
On the appointed day and time, all attendees visit Reliance World in their
respective cities and participate in the Video Conference.
Each Reliance World has a specially-designed soundproof Video Conferencing
Room, equipped with state-of-the-art video conferencing equipment. The room can
accommodate up to 9 participants comfortably, with 5 participants in distinct view
of the camera. The digital Home Theater System, with a 42” plasma TV gives you
that near real-life experience.
You can even hook up your Video Conference from Reliance World to any
enterprise which has a standards based ISDN video conferencing facility, even if
that enterprise is in a different country. Participants who have no video
conferencing facility can also join in using their telephone connections.
20

Corporate applications of Video Conferencing
Recruitment: Typically closure for out station candidates would take days /
weeks, coordinating everybody’s travel schedules. With VC from RW no matter
where the candidate or the interviewer is they can all meet virtually from any of the
105 cities in India.
Training: large number of people across the organization with a standardized
training content has always been a challenge for the training department. With VC
from RW, now the subject matter expert can train 1000 employees across 100 cities
simultaneously with the same standardized training content
22
Sales Review: Sales Head are forever travelling. Sales reviews in smaller cities
(e.g. Jamshedpur) can typically take three days (1 day to reach, 1 day to work and 1
day to travel back again). VC from RW not only increases the width of reviews but
also the depth of reviews (the time saved can be used to conduct reviews in more
towns more frequently).
Product Launches and roll out: Typically product launches happen only in the 4
regions in 5 Star Hotels calling Senior Managers and top Channel Partners. There
are always constraints on time, monetary resources and human effort. Such kind
of launches does not impact the real guys selling on the street. With VC from RW
IMRB Abacus can reach out to all the employees and channel partners even in the
smallest city and motivate him by making him a part of the product launch. It also
reduces the time to market drastically in rolling out products nationally
Companies are continually discovering new ways of using this service. ABC
Consultants, Cipla, HDFC Standard Life, Hindustan Lever, Ma Foi,
Marinara & Mahindra, Nicholas Primal, Progeon and Xerox are some of our
clients who have used Video Conferencing to derive business advantage.
23
Future Scope
Videoconferencing is moving beyond corporate to the government sector,
judiciary, distance learning, entertainment and telemedicine. There is an increased
use of videoconferencing systems for interviewing candidates, interaction with
relatives settled abroad, reviews and meetings, product launches, press conferences
and auditioning actors. Videoconferencing promises applications also in healthcare,
education, and government segments, as prices for hardware and bandwidth
reduces and awareness about the technology spreads in the market.
Gone are the days of extended travel, waiting in long airport security lines, travel
delays, inflated travel budgets and lost productivity. As organizations become more
diverse in business applications, acquisitions and mergers become more common
and multi-national work forces become the standard, decision makers are looking
for ways to make communicating among their knowledge workers easy.
Collaborative technologies will enable business partners to easily switch back and
forth from web, video and audio conferencing to see and hear each other and to
share documents and information in real time. Today's enterprises are also looking
forward to leading edge technology, flexible conferences, flexible deployment,
common management suites, highly scalable solutions, secure VoIP conferencing,
embedded multipoint options and videoconferencing solutions.
Today, networks are becoming increasingly scalable and enterprises are realizing
the benefits of having all the applications on the network. The real impact of
24
videoconferencing technology can only be realized when the user's experience is
close to natural face-to-face meeting, and telepresence in this respect has already
started revolutionizing room based videoconferencing services provided by
RELIANCE WEBWORLD LTD.
India will be one of the biggest markets worldwide for videoconferencing
solutions. The enterprise user is getting financially stronger and as now they care
competing globally, there is a need to be more productive and lower the costs of
videoconferencing services provided.

ANALYSIS OF VIDEO CONFERENCING
BUSINESS
Interpretation
Maximum no. of client comes from IT industry.
Banking industry is second highest revenue giver
Why IT Sector
Currently in India IT sector is at its peak and is in the boom stage. The actual
scenario of India speaks that there are few companies which can be counted on
fingers who really practice core HR as practiced in western countries rest in India
26
Industry Wise Distribution Of Video Conferencing Business
IT50%
BANKING20%
OTHER INDUSTRY
30% IT
BANKING
OTHER INDUSTRY
we only see company practicing HR administration or personnel that is related to
pay roll, bonuses etc. In this few are the IT industries that have come to know the
real importance of HR and do practice in their organizations. IT sector deals with
such Human resource, which is very talented and has a good prospect in
developed countries too.
So the HR jobs in this industry relating to retaining their employees becomes much
more difficult.. IT organization cannot afford their talent getting drained and
carried away, so to retain them and keep the attrition low is a difficult job which is
taken care by the HR of the organization.
Why Pharmacy sector
This sector has huge potential market lying inside as there is an ample need of
Field work to be done for these companies. So they recruit lot of people as Medical
Representatives and send them for field work. And so they would need Video
Conferencing for Recruitments .
But, companies like Serum institute don’t need MRs as they sell Vaccines directly
to the Government of India.
These companies may use Video conferencing for Launching of Vaccines
Why Institutes
Institutes such as IIMs, XLRI, Symbiosis already use VC for training purpose.
27
Institutes can collaborate for pursuing the courses they want to offer worldwide.
Also IIT coaching centre, can be targeted for giving classes on VC all over there
branches.

Research methodology
Research design
A research design is a framework or blue print for conducting the marketing
research project. Thus a research design is the arrangement of conditions and
collections and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combines relevance to the
research purpose with economy in procedure. Therefore the research in short is a
conceptual structure.
There are two type of research:-
1) Exploratory
2) Conclusive
For my internship I have done conclusive research. In this I have done a survey for
which questionnaire as a descriptive research is used. (The descriptive research
assumes that the researcher has much prior knowledge about the problem situation.
Thus the information needed is clearly defined as a result; descriptive research is
preplanned and structured.)
Source of data
(1) Primary data: - Primary data are original data gathered specially for the
project at hand.
These data are afresh and first hand collected data.
Questionnaires are used for Customers
35
2) Secondary source: - The secondary data are those, which have already being
collected by
Others and for another purpose
Previous sales record
Information collected from Relationship Executive for Problematic
cases
Sampling Design
1) Population definition - “People of all industry, groups, class, city, location who
came during the survey period to Reliance World.
a) Element - All part of the country who came to Reliance World.
b) Sample unit - Individuals who came to ‘Reliance World’ during my
survey period.
c) Extinct - Collate and all part of India (No restriction)
2) Sampling technique
“Non probabilistic sampling through convenience sampling”
(3)Sample size - Sample size 100 for the Questionnaires
Data Analysis: - The data obtained by survey was analyzed with the help of our
project guide in company and in our institute. The data had been codified and
tabulated and further qualitatively analyzed. For analyzing the data, the various
charts like pie, line, bar and test like chi-square etc is used. Thus,
