The first map to use the name America. The, map printed in 1507, is the first world map in which the  name "America" appears for the lands of the New World. The compiler of the map, Martin Waldseemüller (1474-1519), was a German-born priest and accomplished cartographer.    Historians say the 494-year-old map caused the hemisphere to be named for explorer Amerigo  Vespucci instead of Columbus.

Diego Gutiérrez., published in 1562 by the Casa de Contratación in Seville which was the central authority for Spanish travel to America and custodian of charts and sailing directions for the Western Hemisphere.
