Dear Family and Friends

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and for all things give thanks to God… 1 Thessalonians 5:18

These brief words of St Paul are heart words. They speak the truth of a life that is connected to God, to self and to others. As our school year for 2017 draws to a close to live as these words suggest is worth pondering – yes we give thanks to God. We hold in our hearts the year that has been, the Christmas we are about to celebrate and the new year ahead! May the blessings of this beautiful time of the year be held abundantly in each of our hearts.

Congratulations to all Regnet Christus award winners. Students were presented with their awards during the Celebration of Excellence Ceremony on Friday 24 November which was attended by the whole school community including their families.

There are a number of stories here today of OLSH girls who have worked hard to find their greatness in their learning journey. These girls have worked to develop a true growth mindset and have displayed a capacity to improve their learning, to develop their potential, to keep going back and trying despite failure, until they reach their goal and then they set another goal. It is these girls that we wish to acknowledge for the Principal’s Award for 2017. Year 10 Cileah Smillie Year 12 Sophie Nash Issoudun Ruby Looker

The last day of school for 2017 was Friday 8 December at OLSH College Bentleigh. We

began the day celebrating Eucharist led by Father Martin Tanti sdb who delivered a

wonderful homily. During the Mass we gave thanks for the many blessings we have

received this year. Our student musicians and singers did an amazing job and all of the

girls and staff participated in true OLSH Spirit. As a College community, we presented a

large number of Christmas Hampers to St Vincent De Paul for distribution in our local

area.

Wishing each of you the true gift of Christmas - a deep sense that God is with us.

Bianca Labagnara’s grandfather, Luigi Labagnara.
