Under EU-PEACE Project Implemented by SRSP

Shaltalo is the area severely hit by militants and a sad incidence occurred when 27

law enforcement agency Jawans including 3 civilians were martyred in this village.

The middle School of shaltalo was also destroyed by militants in 2010. The terrain

of the area is hilly and basic facilities like education, health and clean drinking

water at door step are scarce. That is why SRSP selected the area for PEACE

interventions.

Ello Kas boy’s primary

school was blew up in

militants attack. These

schools were identified

by Pak-Army and

endorsed by district

education department.

These schools of Barawal

valley were completely

destroyed by militants.

A total of 600 students are

enrolled in the 3 schools

rehabilitated in Barawal Bandai.

The said valley being adjacent

to Pak-Afghan border is

severely hit by militants. There

had been several attacks from

militants across the border

resulting in devastated

infrastructure and traumatized

community.

The schools are located

in village Nusrat

Kharawo, Shaltalo and

Ello Kas near Pak-

Afghan border. The

valley has lush green

fields, thick forests of

Pine trees however the

current wave of

extremism has spoiled

the hope of developing

tourism in the area.
