The curricular requirements of candidates with an international educational qualification are evaluated by the International Students Office of the University of Torino.

1. Registration for the entrance test

The entrance test for Italian, EU and non-EU students legally living in Italy is the same for all the master degree programs and will be held in Italian, with the exception of the entrance test for the Degree program in Business Administration, which will be entirely in English but identical in content. For non-EU students not living in Italy and Marco Polo Project Chinese students, see paragraphs 6.1 and 6.2.

Registration for the entrance test for Italian, EU and non-EU students legally living in Italy will be open from July 2nd 2019 to August 7th 2019 at 1:00 p.m. (please double check the exact timing specified in the test call). Upon registration, candidates must indicate the degree program/s they wish to apply for. In order to ensure that all the available places for each of the degree programs are used, candidates are allowed to express a maximum of two options, in order of preference, from among the degree programs of interest. In any case, the choice cannot be changed; the order of preferences expressed will be binding and, once the test registration has been completed and confirmed, it can no longer be changed.

If the candidate selects the degree program in Business Administration from among the options, in any order of preference, s/he shall sit the entrance test in English. Students who did not take the entrance test in English cannot enroll for the degree program in Business Administration.

Example: A candidate may express the following order of preference:

• 1st preference: degree program in Amministrazione e Controllo Aziendale; • 2nd preference: degree program in Business Administration;

since the candidate selected the degree program in Business Administration among his/her preferences, s/he will be required to sit the test in English.

The test for Italian, EU and non-EU students legally living in Italy will be held in Turin – Corso Unione Sovietica, 218/bis – Scuola di Management ed Economia (School of Management and Economics).

There will be one single ranking list for all the degree programs. On the day of publication, the position of the candidate in the degree programs for which s/he expressed a preference will be indicated on the portal www.unito.it. The indications concerning the candidates admitted to each of the degree programs will be drawn up on the basis of the ranking list (for more details, see paragraph 3. “Creation of the ranking list” in these regulations) and the preferences expressed. When the ranking lists are published, the personal page MyUniTO (my.unito.it) will therefore contain one of the

3

following indications:

1) “Admitted”. The candidate can enroll confirming the pre-enrollment on line by and no later than the deadline indicated in the official Call and specified in the MyUniTO personal page.

2) “Not admitted”. The candidate must wait for a place to become available in the ranking list (repechage). This status will not change if the places have been filled. Candidates should frequently check their status on their MyUniTO personal page, to ensure that they see the repechage in time.

3) “Annulled”. The candidate is admitted to the program of his/her first choice and therefore the second choice is annulled.

4) “Rejected”. The candidate is excluded as the test score s/he achieved is lower than the minimum threshold established in the official Call.

It is important to remember that a candidate who is “Not admitted” to the degree program indicated as his/her first preference will be considered for the purposes of the ranking list of the other degree program only if s/he indicated said degree program as second preference. Some examples are given below:

Example 1) A candidate who expressed the following order of preference:

• 1st preference: master degree program in Professioni Contabili; • 2nd preference: master degree program in Direzione d’Impresa, Marketing e Strategia;

and is "Admitted" to the ranking list for the degree program in Professioni Contabili (1st preference), must necessarily enroll in said degree program and the 2nd preference will be automatically annulled.

Example 2) A candidate who expressed the following order of preference:

• 1st preference: degree program in Business Administration; • 2nd preference: degree program in Professioni Contabili;

and is “Admitted” to the ranking list for the degree of his/her 2nd choice, but not that of his/her 1st choice, will pre-enroll in the degree program of his/her 2nd choice, but will remain in the ranking list of his/her 1st choice while waiting for a place to become available (repechage) and, should this occur, s/he may switch program within the timeframe specified in the official Call.

Example 3) A candidate who expressed the following order of preference:

• 1st preference: master degree program in Professioni Contabili; • 2nd preference: NONE;

and is “Not admitted” to the degree program in Professioni Contabili, shall not be admitted to any master degree program of the School of Management and Economics, since s/he did not select any second preference. Example 4) A candidate who expressed the following order of preference:

• 1st preference: master degree program in Professioni Contabili;

Page 4: REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE MASTER DEGREE … · 2019-06-13 · 1 . regulations for admission to the master degree programs in amministrazione e controllo aziendale (aca), business

4

• 2nd preference: master degree program in Direzione d’Impresa, Marketing e Strategia; and is "Rejected" will be excluded as the score s/he achieved is lower than the minimum established threshold.

2. Language

The entrance test for the Italian-medium degree programs is in Italian, with the exception of some thematic questions in English. The entrance test for the English-medium degree program in Business Administration is entirely in English.

The candidate shall sit the entrance test in English if the preferences expressed include the English-medium degree program in Business Administration. Students who did not take the entrance test in English shall not enroll in the English-medium degree program in Business Administration.

Sitting and passing the entrance test in English is considered proof of a language proficiency level equal to or higher than level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) which is considered necessary in order to attend this master degree program.

3. Creation of the ranking list

The final scores of the entry test will determine three separate ranking lists, one for each student category:

1. Italian, EU and non-EU students legally living in Italy;

2. non-EU students not living in Italy;

3. Marco Polo Project Chinese students.

For the purposes of the creation of each ranking list, the overall evaluation, expressed in marks out of one hundred, will be determined on the basis of the score obtained in the entrance test between 0 and 100.

The test can also be taken by students who have not yet obtained their three-year degree but who will obtain it by 11th October 2019 without any possibility of delay.

The score obtained in the entrance test will be normalized by attributing the value 100/100 to the highest result (MAX) and 0/100 to the lowest result (MIN). The normalized scores deriving from the intermediate scores (X) achieved in the test will be calculated according to the formula 100 * (X-MIN) / (MAX-MIN).

In order to fulfil the basic requirement of adequate personal preparation, the score obtained in the test must be equal to or higher than 15/100. In particular, those candidates who may achieve a test score lower than 15/100 shall not enroll, regardless of the availability of places in the ranking list.

The ranking list will be determined taking account of the final score obtained (results of the entrance test) and the candidate’s degree program preference expressed at the time of registration for the

Page 5: REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE MASTER DEGREE … · 2019-06-13 · 1 . regulations for admission to the master degree programs in amministrazione e controllo aziendale (aca), business

5

entrance test.

In the event of the final score being equal (entrance test result), priority will be given to the candidates who already obtained their three-year degree at the time of application. In the event of further parity, priority will be given to the younger candidate.

4. Exemptions

There are no exemptions.

5. Transfers and switchovers from other degree programs

It is possible to transfer or switch to a master degree program with a capped number of places in the School of Management and Economics:

• from another master degree program at the School of Management and Economics (internal switchover);

• from another master degree program at the University of Turin, but not at the School of Management and Economics (switchover);

• from another university (transfer).

For the internal switchover of a student enrolled in a study program at the School of Management and Economics in Turin, two cases must be distinguished:

• Switchover from a Master Degree Program LM-77 (Amministrazione e Controllo Aziendale, Business Administration (English-medium program), Direzione d’Impresa Marketing e Strategia, Finanza Aziendale e Mercati Finanziari e Professioni Contabili) to another Master Degree Program LM-77: the student is not required to register for and sit the test. S/he shall submit a switchover application directly to the student secretarial offices starting from the date that will be indicated subsequently on the basis of the deadlines established by the University. The student will be admitted to the 2nd year of the 2018/2019 cohort, within the limit of the available places.

• Switchover from a Master Degree Program LM-56 (Economia e Management, Economics) or LM-83 (Quantitative Finance and Insurance) to a Master Degree Program LM-77: the student is required to apply for and sit the test, and obtain an appropriate position in the ranking list. The student can be included in the 2nd year of the 2018/2019 cohort of the chosen master degree program only if s/he achieved at least 30 university credits in the mandatory subjects of the first year of the master degree program for which s/he wishes to enroll and within the limit of the available places.

For transfer or switchover to a master degree program with a capped number of places at the School of Management and Economics for the academic year 2019/2020 it is necessary to:

• apply for and sit the test, and obtain an appropriate position in the ranking list;

6

• enroll in the first year of the chosen master degree program.

After enrolment in the first year of the master degree program, the student can request:

• recognition of any university credits obtained during the previous master degree program;

• admission to the second year of the chosen master degree program. This request will be met only if the student obtained at least 30 university credits in the mandatory subjects of the first year of the master degree program for which s/he wishes to enroll and within the limit of the available places.

The student’s previous university career is evaluated by the degree program Teaching Committee.

6. Students with international degrees

All students with international degrees, regardless of their citizenship (non-EU students not living in Italy, Marco Polo Project Chinese students and EU or non-EU students living in Italy) must sit the entrance test, including in the event of partial recognition of their foreign academic qualification. 7. Candidates with disabilities or specific learning difficulties (SLD, DSA in Italian)

To ensure that the test is correctly carried out on a level playing field:

− candidates with disabilities pursuant to Law 104/92 (Framework law for the assistance, social integration and rights of the disabled) and subsequent amendments and additions must indicate, when registering on-line for the entrance test, the need for any special aids during the entrance test and/or additional time required. The requests for support will be assessed by a Technical Panel of experts in relation to the specific disability. When registering on-line, these candidates must attach, in pdf format, the medical documentation certifying the invalidity/disability, indicating the diagnosis (not with omissis).

− Candidates with specific learning difficulties (SLD, DSA in Italian) pursuant to Law 170/2010 “Nuove norme in materia di disturbi specifici di apprendimento in ambito scolastico” (New regulations concerning specific learning difficulties in education), when registering on-line, must attach, in pdf format, a certification of Specific Learning Difficulty pursuant to Law 170/2010 (reference ICD-10 code F81 and/or name of the disorder).

The following certificates are valid for university entrance:

− for students with disabilities: the disability certificate pursuant to Law 104, of 5th February 1992, or the certificate of disability with disability percentage of 50% or above;

− for students with specific learning difficulties, the certification of specific learning difficulties pursuant to Law 170, of 8th October 2010 (reference ICD-10 code F81 and/or name of the disorder), as indicated by the MIUR [Ministry of Education, University and Research] in the Guidelines attached to Ministerial Decree 5669/2011, which must be issued by the National Health Service or by specialists or accredited facilities, if required by the Regional Authorities; it will be the responsibility of the student to submit appropriate written documentation proving accreditation of the above-mentioned specialists or accredited facilities with the National Health Service, if not explicitly indicated in the certification;

− students with disabilities or specific learning difficulties residing in countries other than Italy must submit their certification of the state of disability or specific learning difficulty issued in their country of residence, along with a sworn translation into Italian or English.

Page 9: REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE MASTER DEGREE … · 2019-06-13 · 1 . regulations for admission to the master degree programs in amministrazione e controllo aziendale (aca), business

9

The diagnoses carried out by private (non-accredited) specialists must be validated by the National Health Service in order to be accepted. The date of issue must not exceed 3 years at the time of the pre-enrolment.

The University of Turin considers diagnoses issued as from 1st January 2016 valid. Certifications issued after the age of 18 are valid regardless of the date.

Holders of EES (Special Educational Needs) or BES (Special Learning Needs) certificates that do not indicate the presence of specific learning difficulties are not entitled to request extra support, as these certificates are not recognized by current university entrance regulations.

Moreover, students with disability or SLD must specify their needs which, on the basis of the assessment of a Technical Panel of experts in relation to the specific diagnosis, may include:

• additional time (30% more) to complete the test;

• non-scientific calculator;

• the use of a PC with word processor and spellchecking of the text (only if the contents and test format require the student to write a free composition);

• the figure of a Reader who reads the test questions to the candidate.

As indicated by the MIUR [Ministry of Education, University and Research] in the Guidelines attached to Ministerial Decree 5669/2011, said certification must be issued by the Italian National Health Service or by accredited specialists or facilities, if required by the Regional Authorities (the Piedmont Regional Authority has not accredited, to date, any private facility or specialist). For diagnoses made by private specialists to be accepted, they must be validated by the Italian National Health Service. Only diagnoses issued no more than 3 years prior to the test, at the time of pre-registration, are considered valid. Certifications issued after the age of 18 are valid independently of the date of issue.

For further information on deadlines and procedures, a meeting can be arranged with the staff of the “Ufficio Studenti con Disabilità e DSA” office (Disabled and SLD students services) to plan entry to university (in June-July), check the certification and obtain the necessary information on the procedures and timing for pre-enrollment and on the tools and supports available.

Appointments can be arranged by email by contacting [email protected]
