Objectives of the Conference:

Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA)

Science and Technology (S&T) are driving forces of

development in the present globalised economy. The

progress in the field of S & T has brought unparalleled

prosperity and wealth to a significant fraction of the world’s

population in the 21st century.

In order to be competitive in the present globalised

economy,it is necessary to provide good training to students

in the fields of science, technology, engineering and

mathematics (STEM). STEM education is essential to the

future success of our country. Further, mathematics is all the

more important, as we cannot thrive without practitioners

having a solid mathematics foundation.

Mathematics is a broad research area that includes fluid

dynamics; modelling of industrial, environmental and

biological processes; computational mathematics; discrete

mathematics; and differential and computational

geometry. Important applications of mathematics are being

used in engineering and computer science; physical

sciences; chemical sciences; environmental and biological

sciences; economics, management, finance etc. In view of

this, a National Conference on Mathematics and its

applications has been planned.

• To bring awareness on new developments

in mathematical sciences.

• To create interest and broaden the horizon of

knowledge among students in recent advancements.

• To foster the understanding of the use of mathematical

techniques for scientific & technological developments.

Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA) is

an autonomous organization under the Department of

Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, which

was established under the Chairmanship of distinguished

space scientist Padma Vibhushan Prof. U R Rao, Former

Chairman, ISRO/ Secretary, Department of Space, GoI in

2005. Prof. Rao chaired KSTA from September 2005 to July

2017, while Padmashri Dr. S K Shiva Kumar, Former

Director, URSC/ISTRAC, ISRO, GoI chaired from August

2017 to March 2019. Renowned scientists, well-known

educationists and senior administrators are members of

KSTA, while Dr. H Honne Gowda, Special Secretary

(Technical), DST/MD, KSTePS is the Member Secretary.

KSTA has been carrying out many dovetailed

programs to promote STEM education at different levels in

an educational pyramid and organising faculty

development programs as well as science outreach

programs across the State.

?To inculcate the spirit of science at all levels and sections

of the society

?To encourage science communication for building

knowledge based society

One of the major programs of KSTA is organizing annual

S&T Conferences in different divisions of the State on basic

science subjects such as physics, chemistry, biological

sciences and mathematics.

Karnatak University, Dharwad is the second oldest

university in the state of Karnataka, established in the year

1949. The university is spread over 750 Acres of land and

the campus is known as Pavate Nagar, named after

Wrangler Dr. D. C. Pavate, who was an educational

administrator and former Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak

University. The University is presently re-accredited with the

‘A’ Grade status by the NAAC in 2014 and awarded

University with Potential for Excellence by MHRD, Govt. of

India.

The Department of Mathematics was established in the

year 1958. Since then the department is serving as a seat of

learning and research imparting higher education in

Mathematics. The Department offers M.Sc., M.Phil. and

Ph. D. degrees in Mathematics. Presently active research is

being carried out in the areas of Real Analysis, Complex

Analysis, Functional Analysis, Algebra, Topology, Graph

Theory and Combinatorics, Computational Fluid Dynamics,

Wavelet Analysis, Differential Equations, Numerical

Analysis etc. Presently the Department is supported by the

UGC-SAP-DRS-III programme. Department is also

supported by NBHM Library Grants.

Research posters in Mathematics are invited from UG

and PG students, Doctoral & Research Scholars and Young

Scientists/Researchers to display their research outcomes.

• Size of the poster should be 3.5×2.5 ft.

• All the posters exhibited during the conference must be

named by the first author.

• Multiple entries will not be entertained.

• Abstract should not exceed 250 words.

• Abstract should be submitted in MS word

(Times New Roman, 12 point font) in A4 size paper to

the Email:ncma2019kud@gmail.com

• The selection committee reserves the right to

accept or reject the submitted abstract.

• Papers already published or presented elsewhere

including prize winning posters in previous KSTA Event

and Regional Conferences will not be accepted.

• Authors should submit self certification /declaration

stating that the submitted abstract/poster was not

published elsewhere.

There are four prizes for poster presentation in each

group (Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics),

First Prize: Rs. 5000/- Second Prize: Rs. 4000/-

Third Prize:Rs. 3000/- Consolation prize: Rs. 2000/-.

The registration fee of Rs. 500/- must be paid by each

delegate through DD drawn in favor of "Organizing

Secretary NCMA - 2019" payable at Dharwad and send

along with the filled registration form to the Organizing

Secretary NCMA - 2019 on before 25th October 2019.
