About the AVAThe AVA is the peak national body representing the Australian veterinary profession, delivering a range of services and benefits to over 9,500 members.
For nearly 100 years, we’ve represented Australian veterinarians nationwide. Providing members with access to continuing professional development (CPD) of the highest calibre on the latest scientific thinking is a key focus of the AVA. Our CPD program planning begins up to two years in advance to ensure it includes veterinary science and business training that is interesting, relevant and accessible, so that we maintain a highly skilled veterinary workforce. Looking ahead we will embrace new technologies to proactively assist our members with more flexible and appropriate learning outcomes.
Membership is made up of veterinarians in practice, industry, government and academia.
About the Queensland Division ConferenceThe AVA Queensland State Conference will be held on the Gold Coast at the Mantra on View, Surfers Paradise, Queensland from 22 - 24 March 2019, commencing with the Friday night expo and welcome.
This year the Queensland conference will focus on toxicology and there will be two streams, one focussed on small animals and the other on large. Toxins affect animal health in many ways and can come from the environment, food, bacteria and venomous animals.
Things are a little different this year, for the first time in Queensland we bring you the Friday Night Trade Expo! The trade expo will be two and a half hours of uninterrupted time with the exhibitors. This expo will be open to all veterinary staff.
We hope to see you on the Gold Coast in 2019!
Partnering with the Australian Cattle Veterinarians (ACV)This year the AVA Queensland Division and the ACV are having back to back conferences. The ACV Conference starts on Tuesday 19 with the Welcome Dinner and continues until Friday 22 March.
The AVA Queensland Division will commence with a Trade Expo on the Friday evening, and continue over the 23 and 24 March. AVA is developing this model to benefit our delegates and our trade partners.

About the Australian Cattle VeterinariansThe Australian Cattle Veterinarians (ACV) is one of the largest special interest groups of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA). The Australian Cattle Vets special interest group members are predominately mixed practitioner veterinarians in private practice, but also include members working in the government sector (including agricultural and biosecurity), in research facilities, in academia as well as veterinary students who all share a passion and interest in bovine medicine.
The science of this species continues to grow in significance for producers, consumers and government. ACV members have a significant responsibility in managing and maintaining animal welfare and is proud to have a committed and engaged Executive Committee and membership base of over 1100 veterinarians actively promoting and advocating policy and protecting the interests of cattle and cattle veterinarians alike.
ACV provides crucial services to Australia’s agricultural producers, while also playing a key role in disease surveillance, securing our quarantine status and protecting ongoing productivity in all facets of the Australian cattle industry.
About the ACV Annual ConferenceThe Gold Standard Conference 2019 will be held on the Gold Coast at the Mantra on View, Surfers Paradise, Queensland, from 19–22 March 2019, commencing with the annual Welcome Dinner on Tuesday 19 March.
