REPORT OF THE TRUSTEESFOR THE YEAR ENDED 5TH APRIL 2019
The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 5th April 2019. Thetrustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practiceapplicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in theUK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (efiective I January 2015).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIESObjectives and aimsa. Advancement of Jain religion:The Trust has continued its tradition of supporting the teaching of and practicing of Jain religion. It continues to donatefunds to places ofworship both in the UK and India.
b. Infrastructure Development:Trust also actively supports infrastructural development of buildings that are to be used as Jain places of worshipprimarily in London in the UK and Adalaj, Kobe, Dharampur and Sayla in India. However, any other location would beconsidered favourably by the Trustee if an appeal was received.
c. Community Welfare:Community welfare programs in the UK, Africa and India continue to receive small donations &om the Trust.
d. Academic Studies:-Project Trust, a Scottish Charity that arranges volunnuy service abroad for the UK students taking a gap year beforeentering a university.
-Two students pursuing University courses were granted scholarships
e. Relief ofpoverty, sickness, and distress amongst people in need and promoting education:-The Trust is closely associated with the charities that undertake humanitarian work in Sayla, Dharampur and Kobe.Their activities include, rural education, support for rehabilitation of the handicapped people, relief of poverty, medicalservices that include general health care, vision care and dental care and vocational training.-Charities and NGOs operating in the UK and A&ica to relieve poverty through medical aid, provision ofsanitation/water and education continue receiving support from the Trust.- Appeals &om Disaster Emergency Committee for any major disasters are always responded to positively as are appeals&om other NGOs respondmg to disaster relief work.-Trust has during the year supported charities and NGOs within the UK and worldwide working for humanitarian causesin line with the Trust's objectives.
f. Animal Welfare:The Trust has been a keen supporter of protection and welfare of both, wild and domesficated animals in the UK andglobally. Protection of the threatened species is also supported. Aetivifies opposing cruelty towards animals andprotection of the environment are supported. Promotion ofvegetarianism is supported.
Public benefitIn reviewing our aims, objectives and planning future activities, the Trustees have taken into account the CharityCommission's geneml guidance on public benefit. The Trustees always ensure that the activities undertaken are in linewith the charitable objectives and aims of the Charity.
The Trustees make donations to societies or organisations only afier they have vetted the policies of the recipient bodiesto ensure that"No discrimination of any kind is exercised in the services/benefits provided by those organisations."
Administration charges of the concerned charity or NGO are not unduly high" Services provided by this organisation justify the expenditure and do benefit the local community.
The donations made by the Trustees are generally for the support of practice and teaching of Jain philosophy, pmvisionof medical and educational services to the poor and needy and emergency relief in the areas where disasters haveoccurred. The Trustees are satisfied that the benefits are delivered as per their expectations.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIESVolunteersThe Trustees continue to provide all services Trust voluntarily and no remunerafion is paid by the Trust to anyone.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCECharitable activitiesThe Trust income decreased by almost 25'ro over the previous year's income to 657,409. The expenditure increased byalmost 8288 from that of previous year to f97,147 giving rise to a deficit in current year's balance sheet. Trustees haveaccumulated funds for Jain Infiustructure capital projects likely to come on stream in next two or three years which willbe carried forward.
Details given provide a brief over view of the wide range of activities supported by the Trust. Trustees spendconsiderable time to oversee the activities where substantial donafions are made. They also take part in planning andorganising some of these activities.
The Trustees do request and receive reports on the activities of the other charities supported by the Trust.

FINANCIAL REVIEWFinancial ReviewThe Trust's total income for the year comprising of donations, tax credits and bank interest, amounted to 657,409(2017-18:f76,968) and the total expenditure amounted to $97,147 (2017-18tg52,799).
Trust does not have any kind of investment policy nor does it have any investments. Trust confinues to hold its cash inreliable bank accounts.
Reserves policyTrustees incur financial commitments only when the funds are available. There is no particular policy to hold reservefunds.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Mahavir TrustI report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the The Mahavir Trust (the Trust) for the yesr ended5th April 2019.
ResponsibiTities and basis of reportAs the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance sith therequirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying outmy examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under secfion 145(I)(b) ofthe Act.
Independent examiner's statementI have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with theexamination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130of the Act; or2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts sd outin the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts givestrue and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention shouldbe drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial statementsThe financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared inaccordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement ofRecommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the FinancialReporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)',Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic ofIreland' and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical costconvention.
The financial statements for the year ended 05 April 2017 were the first financial statements that comply withFRS 102. The date of transition was 6 April 2015.
The are no transitional adjustments as a result of adopting FRS 102 for the first time.
IncomeAll income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, itis probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
ExpenditureLiabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or consnuctive obligation committing thecharity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement andthe amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and hasbeen classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directlyattributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activifies on a basis consistent with the use ofresources.
Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment butnot accrued as expenditure.
TaxationThe charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accountingUnrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discrefion of the trustees.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictionsarise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.
Foreign currenciesAssets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at thebalance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange ruling atthe date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating result.
Going concernThe financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis as the trustees believe that no materialuncertainties exist. The trustees have considered the level of funds held and the expected level of income andexpenditure for 12 months from authorising these financial suuements. The budgeted income and expenditure issufficient with the level of reserves for the charity to be able to continue as a going concern.

RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES
Mr J S Mehta is a Trustee of this Charity.
(i) The charity paid K495 to Mr J S Mehta as reimbursement for sundry donations he made in India on behalf ofthe Charity.
(ii) The Charity donated X9,681 (2018: f960) to Shree Raj Saubhag Satsang Mendel UK where Mr J S Mehta isalso a Trustee.
(iii) The charity received donations amounting to 815,000 (2018:f28,000) from Mr J S Mehta.
