competitiveness of the economy, especially the development of the knowledge
economy
● An integrated program for local economic transformation, the program strengthens
economic transformation through the use of new research and technological
developments
● It comes out from the targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy
● It is based on 4Cs+C — Competitive advantage, Choices, Critical mass of resources
and talent, Collaborative Leadership and Common sense
vs. Development Strategy 2020
● Excellence in research
● Competitive and innovative companies
● First-class European secondary schools
● First-class European higher education
● Attractive region
vs. Development Strategy 2020
1. Advanced manufacturing and engineering technologies
2. Precision devices
3. Software and hardware development
4. Medicines, medical care and diagnostics
5. Technology for the aerospace industry
Challenges and tasks of The Strategy
● Ecological sustainability, social cohesion, in the narrow sense, for example, a low-carbon
economy and technologies, and the search for ways to address them → direct economic effects and
indirect effects
● Quality and the functioning of institutions is an important condition for the trust of companies →
● Business and innovation (motivation, weak vs. strong, ambitions)
● Research pre-orientation of public research institutions, education system and critical talent
● The aim is to make use of available resources, not only financial, but also human and material, in
the most promising areas of research and entrepreneurship and to strengthen the competitiveness
of the economy in the long term
● The effective interconnection of the academic and business sectors
● to increase the involvement of advanced companies, to ensure the interconnection of RIS with
university strategies, to extend the interventions and the application of the results of the research
also outside the Brno agglomeration
Challenges and tasks in Water Sector
● Drought — erosion — climate change — exteriors
● Water treatment
● Treatment of Sludge from WTP
● Green infrastructure
● Floods and countermeasures
● Technology innovation
