Changes to Heart Allocation Policy
Implemented July 12, 2006 Allocation sequence modified to: • Give priority to Status 1A and 1B candidates in
Zone A over Local Status 2 candidates for adult donors.
• Status 1A and 1B pediatric patients in Zone A are placed above their adult 1A and 1B counterparts in the local area for adolescent donors.

Preliminary Data following Policy Implementation
Little change in Waiting List Composition. There appears to be an increase in the percentage
of Status 1A and 1B transplants, with Status 2’s decreasing accordingly.
There has been an increase in the percentage of Zone A transplants, and a decrease in local transplants.
No major differences seen in distribution of transplants by transplant program volume.
