What is Refugee Sunday? What is Refugee Sunday?

Refugee Sunday (31 August, 2003) is a celebration of the contribution refugees have made to Australia, held every year in thousands of

churches around Australia. It also serves to raise awareness of the

plight of refugees and asylum seekers in Australia.

Why a Poster Competition?

Each year, in the lead-up to Refugee Sunday, the National

Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA), in conjunction with the Australian Catholic Migrant and

Refugee Office and Mercy Refugee Service, holds a poster competition for high schools. The winning entry

is used to promote Refugee Sunday.
