This institute was originally conceived as “Centre of Awareness in Construction and Engineering “(CACE) during October 1989 by few like minded, dedicated professionals to provide vocational training to grass root level and middle level managers in the construction trades and management.

During the December 1993, it was registered as Regional Institute of Construction Management And Research (RICMAR) under Karnataka Co-operative societies Act, In 1997, it is named as 'INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING OF CONSTRUCTION TRADES AND MANAGEMENTS (INSTRUCT).

INSTRUCT has successfully completed a total number of 850 programmes including several seminars/workshops and trained nearly 21,000 construction staff many of these are also organized at the national level.

BRIEF DESCRIPTIONThis code is the umbrella code for Structural Steel Design in India and forms the basics of Structural steel design. This code has incorporated the Limit State Method of Design, which is a paradigm shift from the working Stress method which was prevalent earlier. This revision was released by BIS on February 2008.
