CONFERENCE VENUE
The venue for the ICR Destination Reflexology Conference is the Queena Plaza Hotel in Taitung. The name of the hotel reflects its central philosophy which is “Love as fragrant as the Osmanthus. Wisdom as deep as the fields”. Chairman of the hotel, Mr Renzong Zhu believes no matter how far one reaches, all glory ultimately goes to one’s parents.
Taking one character from each of his parent’s names, “Gui” (osmanthus) and “Tian” (field) and combining them, the Mandarin name for Queena Plaza Hotel was born. Within walking distance of the Night Market, Tainhou Temple and Taitung Railway Art Village this centrally located luxury hotel offers comfortable and ultra-modern facilities of an exceptionally high standard. All presentations and workshops from the 19th to 22nd October will take place at the Queena Plaza Hotel.
GALA DINNER: Saturday, 21st October The Gala Dinner will take place at the Queena Plaza Hotel. Relax amongst friends and enjoy a wonderful evening of good food and entertainment.

Taitung, the host city for our 2017 conference is teeming with entertainment and cultural attractions. Situated on the east coast of Taiwan, on a small plain between the Central mountain range and the ocean, the tropical city of Taitung offers spectacular scenery and is the perfect exotic destination for the ICR 2017 International Destination Reflexology Conference. Combing your annual holiday with the ICR conference is an opportunity not to be missed.
Home to seven very diverse aboriginal cultures, Taitung offers an array of tourist attractions ranging from temples, museums, markets, hot springs and nature parks.
The first stop for any tourist should be the Taitung Tourist Information Centre located at the Old Railway Station on Tiehua Road. Here you will find information on local aboriginal events as well as maps and general information on Taitung.
Some sights include:
Taitung Railway Art Village After the South Link Line was open to vehicular traffic, the volume of freight and passengers was too large, more than the Taitung old station could handle. Thus it was faced with the fate of abolishment as the new station was under construction. In order to preserve the significantly meaningful old railway over the past 80 years, Taitung Railway Art Village is thus established to keep memories of railway culture. This art village maintains the original appearance of the railway bureau at that time, having the nation’s only triangle turnaround loop and Kuanghua Express. In the porch, there are modern installation artistic works and old-fashioned railroad reflecting each other. Rail enthusiasts and photography lovers shall never miss here. Museum of Prehistory, Buowuguan Road, Fengtain Village Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm. Surrounded by beautifully sculptured grounds and gardens this museum is dedicated to the Peinan Culture. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, a team of archaeologists from the National Taiwan University excavated over 1500 stone coffins and more than 20,000 stone and pottery artefacts. It also houses an in depth exhibit on the current aboriginal groups in Taiwan.
13
Beinan Cultural Park, Wenhuagongyuan Road, Nanwang Village Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm. Associated with the Museum of Prehistory, the park contains the largest and most important prehistoric archaeological site in Taiwan. The park also consists of beautiful grounds with a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Fruit Street, Zhengqi Street is a street of hawker fair.
Taitung Railway Art Village, Tiehua Rd (At the old railway station). Taitung City converted several buildings of the old railway station into a exhibition space for local artists and artist in residence.
Tianhou Temple, Jhonghua Rd. one block south of Sihwei Rd 1st Section. While there are seemingly temples on every block this one dedicated to Mazu (Matsu) is ornately decorated and quite popular.
Liyushan Park, Next to the old train station, on the Southwest side of downtown. With its trails and lookouts Liyu Shan offers a panoramic view of Taitung.
Taitung Seashore Park and Taitung Forest Park, On the North and East sides of town. Taitung Seashore Park and the attached Taitung Forest Park are extremely popular with both locals and tourist alike. With miles of cycling and walking trails as well a beautiful and surprisingly undeveloped seashore, these parks offer a perfect chance to experience Taitung's laid back lifestyle and clean ocean air. There are bicycles for rent at several places. Erected in Taitung Seaside Park, the Paposogan (Seashore Park) integrates landscape and public art, marking Taitung’s unique culture, history and natural scenery. Its special rattan roof shape is very impressive. Quietly standing on the coast, the Paposogan (Seashore Park) greets the first light of the morning in the daytime. At night, its yellow light shines, as if looking forward to the vision of the world. A county-administered city, Taitung was previously called Baosang Village, derived from the Amis language "Paposogan", meaning "in the direction of the hill". Once resided by Puyuma and Amis people, the place has a paradisal natural environment and rich content of pre-historical relics. Lighting: Winter (October 1-April 30): 17:30 - 22:00
14
Tiehua Music Village Romantic evenings can be enjoyed at nearby Tiehua Music Village. The singers give natural and moving performances and there is also an art market to browse; enjoy life at a leisurely pace here while listening to the most beautiful voices in Taiwan. Music Village Performance Time: Wed-Sat 8-10pm, Sun 7:30-9pm Arts and Crafts Fair: Tue-Sun 2-10pm Holiday Show Fair: Fri 6-10pm, Sat-Sun 3:30-10pm
Ata Aboriginal Culture, Jhongsing Rd. 2nd Section 200th alley #7 (Across the Street from the grocery store. Thru the sculpted metal gate.), Open 10am-5pm, closed Mondays. Located in one of the buildings of a now defunct sugar factory this glass bead studio and handicraft centre sells a variety of aboriginal handicrafts. Including textiles, leather work, and handmade glass beads. Since the Ata glass bead studio is located on site you can also watch glass beads being made.
Green Island (Lyudao) is a small island 33km to the east of Taitung City. This little paradise offers world class scuba diving and snorkelling, hiking, cycling and swimming.
