the Spring and Summer. This year the Clubhouse will be completely closed from Sunday, March 7th through Wednesday, March 17th, reopening on Thursday, March 18th with a traditional St. Patrick Style Buffet.

Cooking Demonstration Please Join Chef Will and the culinary team on Saturday, April 17, 2010 for a dis-

cussion on basic preparations and pairings of foods, sauces and flavorings. There will be an engaging food tasting and presentation about the “what” “when” and “why” of the flavorings and seasonings that are used. Chef Will plans to show the art of tast-ing food through the use of several interactive tasting demonstrations. Chef Will and the culinary team will be more than happy to answer any questions at the end of the demonstration. So come out to enjoy an afternoon of food and fun at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. New Year’s Eve Celebration

New Year’s Eve was again a great success at the Lake Naomi Club-house. The theme for ringing in the New Year was “One night in Par-is” The Members enjoyed an incredible five course dinner presented to perfection by Chef Will and his culinary team. The Members then danced the night way into 2010 with a spectacular band, “The Fancy Dancer”. The night was the perfect way to end the year 2009 and ring

in 2010. Special thanks go out to Linda and Richard Wheelan and Lynette and Bob Kabula for all their hard work in planning and decorating for this special event. All New Year’s Event pictures can be viewed at www.LakeNaomiClub.com.

The Dress Code at the Lake Naomi ClubhouseIn order to maintain the quality experience that the Members expect at the Lake

Naomi Clubhouse, Club Members and Guests are required to wear Dressy Casual appropriate attire when dining at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. While jackets are not required, they are welcomed at all times.

In the Main Dining Room and the Tall Timbers Room Gentlemen and young men 16 and older must wear a collared shirt or a comparable dress shirt at all times. Beach attire, T-shirts, cut-offs, tank tops and hats are not permitted at any time. Except for special functions where they are appropriate (for example, square dances and western night), blue denim jeans are discouraged (however not prohibited) on Saturday nights.

For Sunday Breakfast Buffets dressy casual is recommended. Gentlemen and young men 16 and older must wear a collared shirt or a comparable dress shirt at all times. Beach attire, T-shirts, cut-offs, tank tops and hats are not permitted at any time.

On the Outdoor Deck Beach attire, cut-offs, hats and jeans are permitted. However, entering the Club for special buffet events will not be permitted unless you are dressed in appropriate attire per the above description.

The Clubhouse Committee acknowledges that some Members strongly prefer a more casual dress code. However, we still encourage dress that would be considered business, dressy casual or resort casual, and believe diners will be most comfortable following those guidelines.

The Club’s entrusting our Members to use good judgment concerning what is appro-priate attire when coming to the Club to dine. Under-shirts, sleeveless t-shirts, printed tee-shirts, short shorts and bare mid-drift tops are unacceptable.

Please inform your guests of this policy before they arrive at the Clubhouse. In the event of questionable attire, the decision of the Clubhouse Manage-

ment will be final.

Bad Weather Office and Community Center Closing As most residents of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails are aware, winter weather can make

driving conditions in Pocono Pines and vicinity difficult and dangerous. This factor com-bined with the significant distance that a number of the Club’s Support Personnel travel in order to get to the Administrative Office and Community Center makes staffing the Office and Community Center on some bad weather days a real challenge.

You can be assured that every effort will be made to have the Administrative Office and Community Center open and staffed during all stated times of operation, regardless of weather conditions. However, the Club seeks your indulgence and understanding for those rare occasions when the Office and/or Community Center may not be able to be staffed due to extreme weather conditions. During times of bad weather, be sure to call ahead before traveling to the Administrative Office or Community Center.

Breakfast with Santa Sleigh Ride

Knitting for a CauseThe Activities Committee is currently

sponsoring an ongoing knitting project for a great cause. This program has been a work in progress since the Fall of 2006 and has since yielded 20 lap robes which have been donated to local nursing homes through Bill Bussman.

*If you know how to knit or crochet we would love to have your help! Here is how it works: You crochet or knit a square and turn it in to the Com-munity Center and a group of knitters will put them together to form the lap robes to be donated. If you are interested, the guidelines are below:

*All squares should measure 8 inches square using worsted weight acrylic yarn.*Knitting – Use size 8 or 9 knitting needles. Cast on 35 or 40 stitches and work for 8 inches.*Crocheting – Use a size G or H crochet hook. There are pattern instruction sheets available at the Community Center or

you can just plain knit or single crochet the proper size.

Local Food Bank Donations to Continue The Activities Committee has been made aware that the local food bank

Lake Naomi - Timber Trails Juried Arts and Crafts ShowThe Activities Committee of Lake Naomi -Timber Trails is proud to an-

nounce that we are having our first juried arts and crafts show on Saturday, August 7, 2010. We are looking for crafter’s with high quality handmade items. The fair will be held inside the Logan Steele Community Center and it is being held just for our Members and guests. We feel this is the best weekend of the summer to try this new endeavor because most of the homes will be filled and through hard work we want to see this be a success.

We are now in the process of looking for those high quality artisans to participate and maybe you would even have someone to recommend. A few Committee Members have been traveling the craft fair circuit since September to find the best artisans. I know that we have many hidden tal-ents living right here at Lake Naomi – Timber Trails and if you would like more information, we would be glad to send it to you. Any monies that are raised from this event will be donated to the Pocono Mountain Food Bank.

If you have suggestions or would like more information, please feel free to call Carol Kehler, 610- 296-7612 or email [email protected] or Linda Pardini, 570-851-1277 or email [email protected].

Fitness News at LNC The New Year, New You program is underway.

This is a six week program designed to help Members plan and track their 2010 fitness program and reach goals. Participants start with a pri-vate meeting with the trainer where a workout plan is designed and nutritional tips are shared. Points are awarded weekly with some great prizes at the end of six weeks.

Congratulations to all who participated in the Diet Game. Several Members com-peted in teams of 2-3 people in this new challenge. The purpose of the game was to encourage proper nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The participants paid a small fee to enter the game. At the end of four weeks, the team with the most points won the sum of the fees collected. The winners are Fran Whipple, Ellen Nathan and Joyce McLaine. These three ladies donated their winnings to the local food bank. Look for announcements on upcoming games at the Community Center.

Multipurpose Room Guidelines:Please only wear shoes with non-marking soles.Athletic shirts and shorts are required, cut-offs are not permitted.Roughhousing and horseplay is considered unsafe and not permitted at any time. Please do not hang on the basketball rims or lean on the tennis nets.Food and eating are not permitted in the multi-purpose room. Drinks are only permitted in reusable plastic containers with lids (i.e. sports bottles.)Multipurpose Room while set for Indoor Tennis: Athletic attire and shoes are required to play indoor tennis.Only persons engaged in play may be on the court. Each court may have a maximum of 4 players and 3 regulation size tennis balls unless

otherwise approved by management. Please keep the courts free of litter, especially empty ball cans and ball can metal caps

which can damage the floor.Players are expected to practice court etiquette as they participate at all Lake

Naomi Club Tennis facilities:Be respectful to the adjacent court at all times, especially when walking in and out

and when retrieving balls. Should the need to interrupt arise, please wait until after the point in play.

Limit disruptive conversation and behavior. Profane language is never acceptable. Throwing racquets will not be tolerated and unnecessary screaming is discouraged.

Courteous and sportsmanlike conduct is always expected. Although cell phones are permitted in the Community Center, lowering ringer volume

and taking calls to another area are courteous practices always appreciated by others. We hope these basic reminders will help all Members to find their

time at the Community Center more enjoyable as many users share common space. We thank you for your cooperation.

Community Center GuestsWhile we are always happy to also

entertain Guests here in Lake Naomi and Timber Trails, please be mindful of the Community Center guidelines throughout the rest of this winter sea-son, especially President’s Weekend (February 12-15): there is a limit of six Guests per day per Family Mem-bership on weekdays and four Guests per day per Family Membership on weekends and holidays. Also please remember that in order for a Guest to use the facility, the Member must be present with them. In fairness to our Members, we will not be making any exceptions to these policies during

winter, holiday periods.

Indoor Pool EtiquetteFor the comfort of all Members us-

ing the indoor aquatic facilities, we encourage you to rinse off before en-tering the indoor pool, steam room or sauna. This is especially important if you have just worked up a sweat in the fitness center or multi-purpose room. Showerheads for this purpose are located in the Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms right before you enter the indoor pool area. Your fellow

Members thank you!

Lifeguard Positions for 2010The Club continues to look for the

best lifeguards to insure we remain the “Best Crew” in the Poconos. Al-though the Club had a plentiful staff last year, we are accepting applica-tions now for the upcoming summer. Guards who reapply by February 28th will have their position held for them. Beginning March 1st any re-maining openings will begin being filled. The Club is accepting ap-plications now and with the great response we have had in the past, these positions are expected to fill up quickly. Please don’t wait to apply if you are interested. Applications are available at the Administrative Office, Community Center or online

at www.LakeNaomiClub.com.

Aquatics Committee OpeningThe Lake Naomi Club Aquatics Committee is an

Advisory Committee to the Board of Governors and the Club Management Team. These Member volunteers make recommendations with regard to the aquatic facilities, events and procedures. There will be three meetings in 2010, one in May, July and August, all of which take place Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM at the Community Center. If you spend time at the pools and beaches and feel as though you have the interest and can make the minimal time commitment to be involved, the Aquatics Committee would like to hear from you. Please submit an ap-plication to the Nominating Committee, which can be completed online at www.Lak-eNaomiClub.com or by contacting the Administrative Office. If you have questions prior to applying please feel free to contact Operations Coordinator Meredith Sensenig at the Community Center, 570-646-8585 or at [email protected] Safety at the Logan Steele Community Center

Soaking in the hot tub, steam room or sauna at the Community Center is relaxing, warm and wonderful. The hot water, jets and steam soothe your body and rejuvenate your spirits. The recommended guidelines below will help you to soak safely:

• Consult before you soak. If you suffer from any medical conditions such as cardio-vascular or respiratory disorders, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, or others make sure you have your doctor’s okay before you go in the hot tub.

• Observe a reasonable 10 minute total time limit when soaking in the hot tub, steam room or sauna, and cool down between uses. **One should never move from the hot tub directly to the steam room or sauna or vice versa if the 10 minute time limit in the aquatic area has been reached.

• Exit immediately if feeling any kind of discomfort such as dizziness, nausea, light-headed or faint.

• Alcohol, drugs, medications and hot air and water don’t mix. Spa heat accelerates the effects of alcohol and drugs and can cause unconsciousness.

• Please note that pregnant women should consult their physicians before use and women of childbearing years are advised to observe caution in their use of a spa, in that they might be in the very earliest stages of pregnancy and not yet know it.

• No Children under the age of 16 years are permitted in any Spa Facilities.

Pocono Mountain ArtsCouncil

The Lake Naomi Club is pleased to announce that for the third year, the Club has teamed up with the Po-cono Mountain Arts Council to do-nate space for local artists to display their work. Since the Spring of 2008, Members have been able to view the PMAC’s Rotating Gallery right here at the Club. The display will consist of eight to ten pieces of artwork from one artist each month and is located in the Adult Activity Room and the stairwell loft area of the Community Center. Artist bios, titles of the work and a price list will also be displayed

alongside the artwork.

Re-Hire Time is HereIt is hard to believe we are already preparing re-hire applications for Summer Team

Members who finished the 2009 season in good standing. Although the Club is hop-ing for the return of many of the fantastic Team Members we’ve had the pleasure of working with in summers past, we also know there will be some positions to fill. That being said, all returning Team Members will be asked to commit to the upcoming Summer by March 1st in order to receive first consideration for seasonal positions. After March 1st we will fill vacant positions immediately as we have also already begun our search for new candidates for the 2010 Team. Interested parties should not wait to apply for positions they may be interested in. Re-applications will provide an opportunity to express your interest for the upcoming season, however our phones are already ringing by those wishing to be considered for the 2010 Team. You may con-tact us in person if you have a concern or question regarding a position at the Club. Otherwise you can plan to receive your re-application by February 1st and return it as soon as possible. Other interested parties who have yet to work with the Club may either apply in person at the Administrative Office, or fill out our online application at www.LakeNaomiClub.com in the Online Office. Those interested in Supervisory positions are asked to include their resumes with their applications.

Sellers BewareThinking about selling your home in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails? Picking a real

estate broker/agent to list your home is a real key decision. Over the years many Members have discovered that purchasing a property in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is very different from purchasing a property in most other locations in the Pocono Region. Thus selling a property in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is very different and to be suc-cessful takes someone who is very knowledgeable about the Community. So before you list your home with a broker/agent, determine if that broker/agent is well versed and experienced in the sale of properties in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails.

McKee Family Planning for Summer of 2010Tennis Professional Bobby McKee and family are looking forward to returning to

Lake Naomi-Timber Trails with new ideas for 2010! The McKee Team will again include fellow Tennis Professional and Bobby’s Brother Richard McKee. Bobby is already working regularly with LNC Management to put together the clinics, events and lessons to be offered in the upcoming season. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcomed and can be directed to Bobby at [email protected]. Exciting new offerings are on the horizon for Tennis players. Articles outlining these programs will be included in upcoming issues of Reflections so Members can look forward to these programs and begin their summer planning.Winter is Platform Tennis Season

Platform Tennis was originally invented in order to accommo-date tennis players who were not able to get on their courts once colder weather hit. Leagues, tournaments and special events quickly followed, turning Platform Tennis into one of the best winter outdoor recreational sports. Lake Naomi Club Members are reminded that although our court is available all year at the Community Center, winter is really the best time to try it out as it was originally intended. This fast moving game is a great way to warm up outdoors while benefiting from the fresh air and enjoying the crisp beautiful days offered here. The Platform Tennis court deck has a heating feature to melt away ice so weather only keeps us off the court as long as it takes for us to clear the deck of snow and ice.

The Platform Tennis Court is available for play seven days a week Monday-Thurs-day 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM * Friday 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM *Saturday 8:00AM to 10:00PM and *Sunday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. (Note: additional snow and ice removal time may be needed in inclement weather. Please call in advance during times of questionable weather)

Members who do not have their own rackets and balls may use the platform equip-ment available for check out at the reception desk. New racquets are now available for adult players as well. Eye protection is highly recommended and athletic shoes are required.

All Members are permitted to play and there are no court fees associated with plat-form tennis. Reservations are not necessary at this time as the courts are first come, first to play, but if you have a group wishing to play at a particular time, please call the Community Center to reserve the courts with the receptionist.

The reception desk also keeps an informative highlight sheet on platform tennis as well as the official rules for the Members who wish to use them. Additional informa-tion can be also be found on the APTA website at www.platformtennis.org

Management and Member Mike Kummer are also organizing pick up games on Wednesdays at 1:30 PM if you are looking to play. Please contact Operations Coor-dinator, Meredith Sensenig at (570) 646-8585 or [email protected] for additional information.

Boat and Canoe Racks Each year Management hears numerous concerns

from Members who do not receive boat or canoe rack assignments in the area they desire. Please keep in mind that boat and canoe racks are assigned on a first paid basis. Many racks have already been assigned to those Mem-bers who have made payment in January. Thus the earlier you make your 2010 Club Dues payment, the better your chances are of being assigned racks in your designated area.

Those Members who opt to subscribe to a boat and/or canoe rack are subscribing to the rack from the Saturday prior to Memorial Day Weekend until the Monday of Columbus Day weekend. The actual dates in 2010 are May 22nd through October 11th. Please do not occupy boat or canoe racks prior to the starting date indicated. When you do occupy your rack, make sure that you are on the rack that has been assigned to you. The elevated racks are for canoes and kayaks only. They are not built to withstand the weight of any other craft. Please do not put anything other than canoes or kayaks on these racks.

Each of these LNCSA Members who volunteer their time and efforts are thanked for their continued dedi-cation to sailing and the Lake Naomi Club. Please note: As we credit our 2010 “official” volunteers, we must also thank the additional enthusiastic sailors and their families who contin-ue to offer their time and support to assist the sailing Membership. This is truly an example of a team effort in action helping to facilitate the array of sailing, racing and events scheduled each season. The sailing community

devotion is truly appreciated.

RC Sailing Annual Spring Ahead Open RegattaThe Club’s newest sailing Fleet, Radio Controlled Lasers, is hosting their 1st annual

“Spring Ahead” Open Regatta on Sunday, March 14th. The RC Sailors have been sail-ing indoors every Sunday since November 1st and will continue their weekly schedule through March 28th. This activity has been growing in popularity with four new boats being purchased over the Christmas Holiday bringing the fleet to 15 boats. LNC has also received national recognition for our indoor sailing being featured on the homep-age of the North America RC Laser Class Association Website at www.rclaserna.com. The RC Sailors have already heard from sailors in Maryland, New Jersey and New York who will be making the trip to Lake Naomi to join in the Regatta.

If you would like to try your hand at RC Sailing, our Members are always willing to share their knowledge and even their boats. Come see what it’s all about any Sunday morning between 8:00 -10:00 AM. Also check out the clip of the RC Sailors on You-Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t42arFcwLI8. If you’d like to compete in the Regatta please contact RC Fleet Captain Bob MacNeill at [email protected], Sailing Committee Member John Whipple at [email protected] or Operations Coordinator Meredith Sensenig at 570-646-8585 or [email protected].

Reflections OnlineDid you know you could view the latest Reflections on our website (www.Lak-

eNaomiClub.com) a week to ten days before you receive it in the mail? Are you interested in receiving an email telling you that the latest Reflections is available online and sending you a link to the website? To participate in this program simply sign into the website and update your email address in your profile (found in the upper right cor-ner of the website). Then check the box next to Reflections under the Communication Preference. The email message will come from [email protected] with the Subject line reading LNC Reflections available online. While in the Communication Preference section check off any of the other email groups you would like to hear from.

Bulletin BoardsDon’t forget to check the year-round

bulletin boards at the Administrative Office, the Community Center (lo-cated inside), the entrance to Timber Trails and at Millers Drive (across from the Clubhouse) for up-to-date information whenever you arrive in the Poconos. Also, please be courte-ous and safe and pull completely off roadways and out of the line of traffic while reading posted information at

the outdoor bulletin boards.

Timber Trails Member GateThe Timber Trails Community Association has installed an automated Members

gate system at the entrance to Timber Trails. The gate is activated by a bar code reader that reads a bar code sticker on your vehicle and access to Timber Trails is obtained. This gate will provide quicker access to amenities by minimizing the wait-ing time for guests to be signed in at the Ranger attended gate. TTCA is offering the benefit of this system to all Lake Naomi Club Members. As a Lake Naomi Club Member, you can purchase a bar code sticker or stickers at a cost of $10 per sticker. Bar code stickers must be applied to the car by a Ranger or Administrative Team Mem-ber. Stickers are available for purchase and application Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Administrative Office. Kindly note that the manufacturer does not recommend application of these stickers at temperatures below 35 degrees. Also ice scrapers can seriously damage the sticker, so use caution. Please remember that the sticker needs to be visible to the code reader. If the window is partially down or the sticker is covered by snow, the gate will not function. If you have questions regard-ing this program, please feel free to contact Association Manager Wendi Freeman at [email protected] or 570, 646-9191 ext. 107.

The June Bugs Pre-Season League Tune Up

As winter becomes a memory and more snowbirds and residents begin arriving at Lake Naomi, it is time to put away the mittens and get out the golf gloves and clubs to get ready for the ladies golfing season. If you attended the Golf Lun-cheon in August, you may remember Mel Willard and I (Grace Conger) volunteered to plan something for pre-season lady golfers. We have met with each other and with Bob Millard to share and exchange some thoughts and ideas, for what, we hope will be a fun time. We call our six week session “The June Bugs” Pre-Sea-

son League Tune Up.The goal, as we’ve developed it, is to

utilize the six Thursday’s between Golf Course opening and the start of the regular program of ladies golf as an opportunity to get out the winter kinks and refresh the golfing skill (at any level). We hope to review and grow in skill level and spend some time working on improvement in a social environment with old and new friends while working on our individual golf games. To that end we have tried to create and/or modify some of our regular season group scramble games, while try-ing not to duplicate those games. We have also spoken with Bob about holding la-dies clinics for the June Bugs once a week on an afternoon other than Thursday. The topics for the clinics will include but not

be limited to:1. Basics a. Set up routine b. Grip c. Swing motion on drives d. Feet position and shoulders when addressing ball e. Arm position during drive f. Head position throughout the swing

2. Drives3. Chipping 4. Pitching5. Sand (ugh!)

The golf course is scheduled to open April 3rd, weather permitting. We will keep you posted via email and through Reflections for our opening session. Be sure to bring your clubs that day as we will start with a familiar “step away” scramble. Mel, Bob and I look forward to seeing you on the course. If we don’t have your email please send it to Grace Conger at [email protected]. If you don’t have email access, please call Grace Conger at

352, 797-9233 or 570, 643-5440.

Contractor WarningPast experience has shown that when the country is in a down economy, it tends

to bring out a lot of new Contractors. Many, unfortunately, have little or no business experience and often do not have the proper amount of liability, vehicle and workers compensation insurance, if they have any insurance at all.

While many of these individuals are well intentioned, having a pickup truck, some signs and the desire to be a Contractor does not make one a Contractor. If someone is hurt on your property, including the Contractor, and they do not have insurance, the liability generally falls back on the Property Owner.

It is highly recommended that before you hire any Contractor to work on your property, be sure to determine if they are licensed by the Commonwealth of Penn-sylvania, have previously done work in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails, require proof of liability, vehicle and workers compensation insurance and check their references.

Need help identifying contractors who have successfully completed projects in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails in the past, contact Association Manager/Architectural Inspector Wendi Freeman by email at [email protected] or by tele-phone at 570, 646-9191, extension 107.

Vehicle Registration FormThe Lake Naomi Club is continuing its Vehicle Registration

Program during 2010 for those Club Members who do not register their vehicles through the Timber Trails Community Association. All Club Members registered with the program will receive Lake Naomi Club Identification Stickers for the vehicles registered. If you would like to participate in this voluntary program, an application was included in the invoice mailing. If you take the time now to fill out and return the Vehicle Registration Application, it will permit the Membership Department time to process your application and to include the stickers in your Membership Packet. This can save you a substantial amount of time when you come to the Administrative Office to pick up your 2010 Membership Packet.

If you desire to use your stickers prior to packets being distributed (2010 stickers are required for access to Timber Trails after April 1st), stop by the Administrative Office with your completed Vehicle Registration Application. The Administrative Staff will be happy to process your request.Calling all Boat Owners

Do you have a boat or two that just doesn’t seem to get used enough? Do you take up valuable storage space with sailboat parts that haven’t seen water in years? If so we have a program meant for you. The Lake Naomi Club Sailing Office, located at Club Beach, offers Members boat rentals on weekends beginning Memo-rial Day weekend and everyday during the main summer season (June 26 – Labor Day.) Many of the boats in the Boat Rental fleet once belonged to Members who donated their boats they rarely used. Because there are so many boats throughout the Community that never see water, there is a program in place to put these boats to good use. Boats donated to the Boat Rental fleet are cared for and stored by the Club but are still available for you to use! Members who donate a boat are entitled to eight free boat rentals per season for five seasons. Those free rentals can be used for your boat or any boat in the fleet, which includes the single and double kayaks, canoes, row boats and paddle boats. Sailboats are available on a limited basis dur-ing the week, once you’ve been “authorized” by a trained Member of the Sailing Staff. Just when you think this deal can’t get any better it does… your free boat rentals are transferable to every person on your Membership, your Special Fam-ily Members and your Guests. Simply contact the Sailing Office (646-LAKE) to make the arrangements and you’re all set. For more information on pre-season Boat Donations please e-mail Operations Coordinator Meredith Sensenig at [email protected] or call her at the Community Center (570, 646-8585). Let’s get the unused boats out on the water where they belong!

From the ARCSpring will be here before you know it and

when it arrives, everyone will want to enjoy the fresh air and work outside. If you are planning to build a new house, undertake any major landscaping project or make any type of structural changes on your property, it is important that you abide by the Deed Restrictions as well as the “Architectural Standards and Requirements” for the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Community. These standards are intended to promote harmonious design, the protection of the environ-ment and collective interests of owners of property in the Community.

Included in the S&R’s is a requirement that all propane tanks be screened from sight by using either privacy lattice or landscaping that provides sufficient screening. Great strides have been taken over the last several years to reduce the number of unscreened tanks in our Community. These unsightly tanks show up in even greater numbers during this time of year and new ones are added all the time. As propane tanks detract from the beauty of your home and the community, this stringent effort will continue. If you haven’t already done so, please be a good neighbor and screen your tank.

Blue tarps are also not permitted in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. Green and brown tarps are much more aesthetically pleasing and blend better with our natural environ-ment. Cramers Home Center, a short drive east on 940, usually has these in stock.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Architectural Coordinator Sharon Lee Heron at [email protected] or 570, 646-9191 extension 106. Minimize Spread of Germs on Bus Trips and Around LNC Amenities

Member Dr. James P. Bond has researched and written a very informative article on how to reduce the spread of germs along with some great pointers everyone should include in their daily lives. Here is a small exert from his article:

Since influenza, including Swine Flu (H1N1) and SARS, etc are spread by cough-ing, sneezing or unclean hands, other preventable methods to control spread of germs include:

1. Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when coughing or sneezing.2. If you have no tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hands.3. Wash you hands frequently with soap and water, if not available use alcohol based hand rub.4. Following the use of toilet facilities wash and dry your hands. With the towel in your hand, turn off the water and open the door.5. Cups and utensils should not be shared. To read the entire article visit www.LakeNaomiClub.com click on Members and the

article is located in the Current News section of What’s Happening.

MemberShare Referral-How Does It Work?

Introduce your friends, relatives and business associates to the Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Community.

When that person purchases a prop-erty in Lake Naomi-Timber Trails and joins the Club, the Referring

Member is eligible to collect $500 in “Club Dollars”.

How do I get the “Club Dollars”?First, you will need to fill out the Referral Registration in the Online Office at www.LakeNaomiClub.com , or pick up a MemberShare Referral Card at the Administrative Office or at one of the participating Pocono Pines Real Estate agen-cies. This referral information must be received at the Administrative Office before your referral joins the Club.

How can I use the “Club Dollars”?The “Club Dollars” can be used in two different ways. They can be used towards your Membership dues or for treating your friends and family to a number of nights out at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse.

Can I share the “Club Dollars”?You can opt to share all or a part of your “Club Dollars” with your referral family in order to make it easier for them to join the Club.

Does it really work?In 2009, 22 new Members came from the MemberShare Referral Program and 23 new Temporary Members came from the Tempo-rary Member Referral Program. Referrals are the Club’s Number One source of new Members. The Marketing Task Force would love nothing more than to award lots of “Club Dollars” through the Mem-berShare Referral Program in 2010 and beyond.

Remember....In order for you to qualify for the Club Dollars the person you refer must be totally new to Lake Naomi-Timber Trails and the referral card must be turned into the Administra-tive Office before the property is purchased.

State Police Urge Use of HotlinesThe Pennsylvania State Police have asked that residents not call their stations for

road and weather information but to use a special state hotline or check online instead. State police are concerned the volume of weather-related calls is tying up emergency phone lines and adversely affecting operations. PennDOT has a toll-free number for road and weather conditions across the state: 1-888-783-6783 or visit their online Road Weather Information System (RWIS) www.rwis.state.pa.us/site/site.nsf/mainpage. The service provides up-to-date information on interstate travel conditions across the state. The PA Turnpike Commission also has a toll-free number for the road and weather conditions on the turnpike across the state: 1-866-976-8747 or visit their website www.paturnpike.com.

lar Membership and are ineligible for Regular Membership can apply for Special Fam-ily Membership. This membership category is also open to the spouse and children of these sons and daughters.

Lake Naomi Club Q & A

Don Arbaugh Will be MissedOn December 9th the Club was shocked by the news of the passing of Member

Don Arbaugh. Loosing a Member is always difficult, but loosing one so vibrant and full of life is especially hard to grasp.

Just the day before, Don had played tennis at the Community Center, which was a regular part of his week. Don was truly one of the most active people everyone knew. His contributions were numerous, from continuing to practice Physical Therapy on a part time basis to playing Men’s Doubles Tennis at the LSCC. He had also been the Boys and Girls Head Coach at MMI Prepatory School in Free-land, PA for the past 5 years. His avid passion for tennis of more than 70 years earned him The United States Tennis Associations Middle States Eastern Pennsyl-vania District Coach of the Year in 2006 when he was honored for his “dedication in improving the program, player development, and character development.”

Achievements like this were not uncommon for Don. He was a co-founder of NET Academy, providing tennis programs and camps in the Pocono Mountain Area, played in the Senior Tennis Olympics and organized numerous Tennis Chari-ty Tournaments over the years. One such tournament, The Clymer Library Benefit, took place here at the Lake Naomi Courts in 2004. The Tennis Committee and the Club raised $12,000 for the library that day, all under the direction of Don.

As if all this were not enough, Don served in the Army in the Korean war, was a published poet and climbed Mt Fuji, not once but twice and 50 years apart!

Members have offered comments in remembering Don which sums his memory up best. “He always had a smile and encouragement for the afflicted.” “He was always a true gentleman.” “He was an inspiration to all who knew him as a teacher, coach, therapist, businessman, husband, father and a friend.”

Certainly we were all fortunate to have known such a man.

Meg Whitney’s PassingMargaret (Meg) Dening Whitney, a member of

Lake Naomi since 1947, passed away the morning of Saturday, December 19th, after a long battle with brain cancer. She was surrounded by family as she looked out at the lake and left peacefully.

Meg grew up in Stroudsburg and after the age of 10 spent her summers on Lake Naomi where she was first introduced to sailing, which became a life-long love. Her love of sailing continued throughout her life, but started when her father bought her a Duster Class sailboat in 1951. In the mid 1960’s, Meg was instru-mental in establishing the junior sailing at the Lake Naomi Club. Meg served as the Duster Fleet 7 captain, winning many sailing awards over the years including the title of fleet champion. Prior to Meg’s illness, she was recognized by the LNC sailing association for her 60 years of sailing on Lake Naomi. Along with sail-ing, Meg embraced so many of the activities here at Lake Naomi including tennis, bridge and golf.

The family gathered for a private service with Rev. George Taylor officiating. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 1st at 11:00 AM in the First Presby-terian Church in Stroudsburg.

Why does the Community Center close at 3:00 PM on New Year’s Eve?

The Community Center closes at 3:00 PM on New Year’s Eve in order for the building to be prepared for the family oriented New Year’s Eve Party which serves several hundred Club Members. Management has revaluated this closing and is pleased to report that on Decem-ber 31, 2010 only the Multi-purpose Room at the Community Center will close at 2:00 PM. The balance of the Community Center will be open until 5:00 PM.

Why was the Community Center only open from Noon to 8:00 PM on New Years Day? Can the hours on New Years Day be expanded?

Based on staffing limitations, the Noon to 8:00 PM schedule for New Years Day has been in place since the Logan Steel Community Center opened in May of 2007. Management has revaluated these hours and is pleased to let the Members know that the Community Center will be open on January 1, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

When will the Community Center be closed in 2010?

The Community Center will be closed for major maintenance each year the two weeks prior to Thanksgiving week. In 2010 the dates are Monday, November 8th through Sunday, November 21st. The only other days the Community Center will be closed are Thanksgiv-ing Day, December 24th and December 25th. The Community Center will be open every other day of the year.

Why does the Club plow facilities that are closed for the winter?

The Club’s insurance carrier requires that the Club maintain winter access to all of the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails facilities in order for the Patrol Rangers to check those facilities on a daily basis as well as for fire protection. The Club also plows areas in some of the facility parking lots for overflow winter parking, as guests of Property Owners are not permitted to park on the roads in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails.

Why doesn’t the Club plow homeowners’ driveways for a fee?

The Club has a full plate handling the snowplowing and ice control for the 15 miles of roads in Timber Trails as well as for the Clubhouse, Logan Steele Community Center, Administra-tive Office and Maintenance Complex. Further, the snowplowing equipment the Club owns for roads and parking lots is not well suited to driveway snowplow-ing.
