Dear Parishioners:
Jesus calls us to be Holy: Love our enemies; Love our neighbors. Easier said than done. We struggle with people who are unfair or just plain wrong. Our own families have harmful excesses of overeating, over-drinking, overspend-ing, overworking, over-medicating, and over-reacting! Jesus brings forth God’s abundant grace: forgiveness, mercy, love, care, letting go and starting over anew.
Jesus calls us to understand our own hurt and anger so as to bridge gaps and forge new pathways. It takes strength to say, “I'm sorry.” Through God’s grace and wisdom, we treat others with the love of God. Do I ask for God’s grace to overcome these challenges or do I just get angry? Do I need to change my attitude and adjust my behavior? Lord Jesus, fill us with Your Love!
At St. Joseph the Worker, this Sunday, February 19, 7:00 PM, all are wel-come to Eucharistic Adoration for vocations in church. Due to the new Audio/Visual installation in SJTW church, Feb 20 - 24, there will be no daily or funeral Masses. With God's grace, everything will be ready for the start of the Women's CEW. At St. Columbkille, city-wide Altar Server Appreciation at this Saturday's, 4:15 pm Mass and following.
Blessings upon you, Fr. Gabriel

Come hear the many stories, history, and scriptural inspiration that gave us so many of our favorite hymns. Over the past two years, the Brocks reflected on the lyrics from our traditional hymns to compose new hymns for their upcoming album, How Great Thou Art. Join us at the St. Raphael Cathedral, Saturday, February 25th, at 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
FOCUS ON FAITH
GRACE 2.0 From the Amazing Parish Leadership Team: Our Sunday Experience, coming together to worship, is the most important gathering of our week as a parish. Regarding the liturgy, there are particular directives we are asked to follow so that we enact the paschal mystery in fidelity with the whole church. At the same time, we don’t put our liturgical practice in a straightjacket. Finding a balance between respecting the laws and implementing their spirit for the good of the community is challenging. It requires regular evaluation of the whole liturgical music choice, rubrics, environment etc. For instance, our “Ubi Charitas” hymn for our homebound and their ministers as well as our parish prayer represent our positive “pastoral adds” to our worship here at St. Joseph. Our 11:00 Mass is our attempt to expand our musical expression with a contemporary flavor. Work continues toward enhanc-ing our worship space as well so all can see and hear with ease. The criteria for good liturgy is whether the community prays, grows, and builds the kingdom in a real way together and then, turning around and taking our life, goodness and justice into the world.
Please remember you can find your dishes/pans from various events in the church cupboard in the cry room! Please stop by and pick them up TODAY!
Do you have a will? Making a will isn't expensive, but not making a will can be. Have you remembered to leave a gift to your parish in your will? To learn more and to get answers to your questions about estate planning, plan to attend this free seminar: March 15, 2016 at 6:30 pm, at Kriebs Hall (Sacred Heart Church Basement). Parking at corner of 22nd and Queen St. Dubuque, IA 52001. Call (563) 583-1709 for more details and to register.

• Food Pantry – With the Christmas and New Year’s holidays now past, our parish Food Pantry is currently quite low on food. Such things as macaroni and cheese, pasta sauce, spaghetti, canned fruit, pork and beans, peanut butter, cereal and boxed potatoes would be most welcome. Thanks for feeding the hungry.
• Our Third Sunday collection on February 18-19 will go to support the service of the House of Hope in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. This home educates and cares for boys under age 18 who come from the slums in the region. The vast majority of them have lost both of their parents from the AIDS virus. Thanks for your anticipated generosity.
