Reflection about the El Yunque National Forest On June I had the opportunity to visit El Yunque National Forest which is a Rainforest located in Río Grande, Puerto Rico. Guided by professors Dr. Velázquez and Dr. Vázquez, we hiked the entire mountain to it top. The activity was introduced by a brief discussion of ecosystems, organisms, and adaptations. Then, while going up, we did several stops to recollect samples. In each stop we recorded wind velocity, coordinates of global positioning, humidity, and temperature. The main objective of collecting them was to later then search for presence of phages in each soil. For that we took coordinates, ph, and humidity. Even though we couldn’t analyze the samples in search of presence of phages, going to El Yunque National Forest was a great experience. I enjoyed being there because of its green. Being at the top of the mountain and looking at the coast of Puerto Rico from another angle is breathtaking. This experience enriched my knowledge.
