Refinery and Petrochemicals Integrated Development ( RAPID) Project: Eurotec Twin Plants with Cooling System

In April’ 2015, Eurotec supplied two MZ Horizontal Plants with 200m³/hour output capacity for a Refinery and Petrochemicals Integrated Development (RAPID) Project in Pengerang, Malaysia. This project was developed by Malaysia oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), under the Pengerang Integrated Complex project (PIC) as part of the Pengerang Integrat-ed Petroleum Complex (PIPC). The total investment of the Pengerang Integrated Complex project was approxi-mately RM 97bn (Kable, 2011), of which the RAPID project had a sizeable budget of RM57bn. The whole complex is capable of processing 300,000 barrels of crude oil refinery and petrochemical per day. The government had invested heavily into contemporary technology for production, and for strict adherence to environmental regulations.

In order to improve the concrete mixing process,

the concrete batching plants Eurotec supplied to this project were equipped with Eurotec’s cooling systems: Chilled Water System and Flake Ice Machine. Eurotec’s chilled water system has proven to efficiently lower the temperature of the concrete, allowing the plant to produce higher grade concrete. The flake ice machine, which uses flake ice as a medium, performed above expectations, further reducing the cooling point, and producing quality concrete to achieve the customer's requirement.

According to Lafarge, both of the plants will supply the concrete for the Refinery and Petrochemi-cals Integrated Development Project (RAPID) and other Petronas-related projects for 5 years. (Lafarge, 2014)

Cement Stabilized Mud Paste (CSMP) Project:Eurotec’s Pan Planetary Mixer was working with unconventional materials

Eurotec’s Pan Planetary mixer with a loading capacity of 1500 liters was used in the Cement Stabilized Mud Paste (CSMP) barge project situated in Delta Mahakam River in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

This project involves the laying of concrete in the river, to protect the gas pipeline that runs across and along it. In order to avoid conflict with the struc-ture of its natural environment (Radiant Utama Group, 2015), the River Crossing and River Banks Repair Campaign’s objective was to utilize organic materials to cover the pipeline located across and along the Mahakam River. This required using the natural char-acteristics of cement, mud and coconut fibers to be mixed into a paste, forming the protective layer of the pipeline. The batching plant was set up on a barge, allowing it to be operated along the river. In order to

produce mixture with high consistency and accu-racy, including the characteristics of mud and coconut husk, the project required a planetary pan mixer. Eurotec's pan planetary mixer is equipped with fully forced planetary action, guaranteeing batch homogeneity in the shortest possible time, hereby reducing wear and power consumption. The blades are designed in perfect angle, to ensure all the materials are completely mixed. The movement speeds of the blades prevent segmen-tation of the materials according to different size and weight; contribute higher output with continu-ous and smooth rotation in a whirling process. In this context, Eurotec’s pan planetary mixer has proven to perform even with unconventional mate-rials.

Larantuka Coastal Fisheries

Eurotec supplied its SMART concrete batching plant with an output capacity of 30m³/hour for the project of Promotion of Sustainable Coastal Fisheries. Eurotec’s SMART plant was designed to be ideal in situations involving space constraints. It has proven to perfectly fit into tight, small site layouts without compromising the production of high quality concrete, and achieving the requirements of its output capacity.

The project was located in East Flores District, Laran-tuka Sub-District, Indonesia. Through constructing fishery facilities in specific areas, the objective of encouraging fishery efficiency and reducing the loss

of post-catch could be met, (Kurita, 2011). The construction job comprised of a Wharf with Pile Foundation of 60m in length, a Causeway and a Jetty with 150m length and 7 buildings, including an administration building (Wakachiku Construc-tion Co.,Ltd, 2007). The project received a grant of as much as 1,070 million yen. It has ever since been fully utilized to improve the livelihood of low income fishermen who stay near to the shore.
