Why is the referendum necessary and why pursue this now?The state limits how much money school districts can raise through a “revenue limit.” MPS’s revenues have been stagnant since 2010–11.
Revenue has not kept pace with increased costs, making it more difficult to provide our students with the best education experience.
Our students deserve educational growth, and that growth requires MPS revenues to keep up with increased costs.
How does the MPS revenue limit compare to other districts?The revenue limit for MPS is significantly lower than some of our neighboring districts, which means MPS gets less money per student to educate our children.1
