Reference Letter for Jessica Carter November 4, 2013 To Whom It May Concern: I am a staff Interpreter/Captionist with Gardner-Webb University. Gardner-Webb University is a private, Christian, Baptist affiliated University located in Boiling Springs, NC. As a staff interpreter, one of my responsibilities is to mentor and supervise the student interpreting interns that we employ through the Disability Services office. Ms. Carter has worked as a student interpreting intern with our office for two semesters. She is a diligent, professional, and self-confident member of our student interpreting team. She demonstrates a dedication to improving her interpreting skills and a motivation to meet the client’s language needs as appropriate. Ms. Carter is intelligent and motivated. She exemplifies her professionalism by being capable, hardworking and prompt. Part of Ms. Carter’s experience includes theater interpreting, tactile interpreting, stage interpreting and attending weekly meetings. She not only accepts constructive criticism but integrates the feedback into her everyday work. A notable skill of Ms. Carter lies with her ability to clarify concepts and communicate clearly with the client. When observing staff interpreters, she writes notes and displays an eagerness to learn.
