Mode of ActionThe antibodies in Travelan® bind to E. coli and other Travellers’ Diarrhoea causing bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract preventing them from attaching to the intestinal wall and thereby neutralizing their ability to cause Diarrhoea and its associated symptoms.

Without Travelan®Bacteria attach to the gut wall and infect

With Travelan®Bacteria neutralised by Travelan® antibodies

In vitro study 2017*

The US Department of Defence tested Travelan® against 180 different samples of bacteria collected from personnel with travellers’ diarrhoea over a 20 year period.

Travelan® reacted with every single one of the 180 bacteria samples , including different strains of:

• Campylobacter• Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC)• Shigella

In vivo study 2018*

The therapeutic potential of Travelan® against Shigella was confirmed in preclinical shigellosis challenge studies in non-human primates.

Travelan® prevented clinical Shigellosis (bacillary dysentery) in 75% of primates treated with Travelan® compared to placebo.

Travelan® is clinically proven to reduce the risk of Travellers’ Diarrhoea by up to 90%3
