Commission Considers objections

The commission decides whether to modify the boundaries or district names before submitting its final report to the Speaker of the House of Commons through the CEO within 30 days after receipt of the objections from MPs

Representation order

The CEO drafts the representation order, which describes the electoral districts established by the commissions, and sends it to the Leader of Government in the House of Commons.– September 2013 assuming there are no extensions

Proclamation

The new representation order is proclaimed by the Governor in Council within five days of receipt from the CEO ... and are then published in the Canada Gazette within five days of proclamation (September 2013)

Boundaries in effect for election purposes….

• The new boundaries can only be applied at a general election called at least seven months after the representation order is proclaimed. This time allows Elections Canada, political parties, candidates and sitting MPs to prepare for the next general election (i.e. hire or reappoint returning officers; adjust the National Register of Electors; reorganize electoral district associations).

Within seven month period following proclamation

Any by-election called after the proclamation but within the seven month following proclamation will be fought on current boundaries

Expect next General Election in 2015 to be fought on new boundaries (121 ridings in Ontario)

Founding Meetings

LPC(O) will coordinate founding meetings after final proclamation

All riding that are see a change of 15 percent or more will be required to have a founding meeting.

28 day notice of all meetings will be given Assets will be distributed as per section 12 in the LPC(O)

rules of Procedure Founding meetings will not begin before mid October at

the earliest
