About the Device

The c. Balance unit offers two categories of wellbeing programs:

Manual User programs – selected by the user can and used as and when required. These provide the potential to calm emotions, aid sleep patterns, ease pain, and revitalize energy levels.

Automated Background programs – run automatically at preselected times of the day and night. These are designed to generally aid wellbeing by maintaining circadian rhythms (24-hour body clock), aid brain wave states, counteract the effects of EMF pollution and reduce stress. They also help activate the body and mind in the morning and prepare it for sleep in the evening.

In addition, the background programs can be recalibrated and uniquely personalized to match with the user, adding potency and depth to the therapeutic effects.

All features are accessed via two buttons on the control panel. The right ‘Set’ button gives direct access to the user programs and starts the ‘Personalize’ feature; the left ‘Status’ button is used to display the battery level and the current time. As an additional procedure, the buttons can be pressed together to initialize the ‘Personalize’ feature and to recalibrate the background programs to specifically relate to the user.

User Programs Single consecutive presses of the right ‘Set’ button will activate each of the manual user programs in turn. The first press will activate ‘CALM’ as indicated by the flashing red light, a second press will activate ‘SLEEP’, a third press ‘EASE’ and the fourth will activate ‘REVIT’ (revitalize).

A flashing red light against a user program along with the pulsating central yellow light indicates it is active and will stay active for a preset time of between 14 and 25 minutes (depending on the program) and then will automatically end.

The programs can be manually stopped at any stage by pressing the ‘Set’ button several times to advance to ‘REVIT’ and pressed once more for OFF.

Description of User Programs:

Calm: This program is designed to work with both acute and chronic stress and anxiety and offers the potential for a general calming and relaxing effect, promoting a quieter and more peaceful mind. The program runs for 15 minutes.

Sleep: Helps establish improved sleep patterns. It is best used a little before retiring to bed. If waking during the night the Calm program may be more effective than using the Sleep setting but do experiment. The run time is 25 minutes.

Ease: The aim of this program is to soothe nerve pain, reducing its intensity and help relax muscular and mental tension. When muscle tensions are reduced the experience of pain changes. It becomes less dominant or goes completely. The Ease program also incorporates a ‘rejuvenate’ element to aid the natural rejuvenation of damaged tissues. The program runs for 14 minutes and if required can be used several times in succession several times a day. Ease can be used in most instances where pain is experienced and is generally used over the area of discomfort.

Revit (Revitalize): This program aims to aid with the reestablishment of a sense of vitality when feeling depleted. Run time is 14 minutes.

Note: The action of each of the user program may be enhanced by placing the device over relevant acupoints as described in the ‘suggested use’ guide.

Setting the Time

Built into the c. Balance unit is a clock that maintains synchronization between the background programs and the time of day. It is important to set the clock correctly to ensure the background programs are activated at the optimum time of day.

There are two ways of how the correct time can be set.

1. Set time to Midday

For correct setting the time this method can only be used at Midday.

Press the left button once and release (show battery level) and then press once more and hold in while the time is indicated. After a couple of seconds the HR, AM and PM lights will flash three times to indicate the time has been set to midday. Release the button.

NOTE: If the clock is in stop mode (following a battery discharge below a critical level) the time will not be shown, only the Time indicator will be on and the HR, AM and PM will remain off. Setting the time will reactivate the clock.

2. Set time to any full hour

This method requires more details, but the time can be set to any desired full hour.

1 - Press the left button 2 times to indicate ‘TIME’.

2 - Press the right button once and the clock indicator, ‘AM’, ‘PM’ and ‘HR’ lights will flash three times indicating the time has been cleared to midnight and a new time can be set.

3 – After clearing the time, the new time is set by pressing the right button. Each press of the left button will flash the ‘HR’ light and increment the time by one hour (1am, 2am, 3am…).

4 - After 12 presses ‘PM’ will change to ‘PM’ (indicating midday). Continuing to press the Set button will increment the time (1pm, 2pm, 3pm…). When the current time is reached, stop pressing the set button and after a few seconds the lights will go out and the time is then set.

NOTE: the time can only be set to the nearest hour; there are no minute settings. Ideally set the clock when the time is at or near the hour point. However, for practical purposes it is fine to have the time set to within 15 minutes of the actual time.

After setting the time, check that it is correct.

Display the Time To display the time, press the left button twice (TIME indictor). Then either the ‘am’ or ‘pm’ indictor will show and the ‘HR’ indicator will flash once for each hour. E.g. if ‘PM’ is indicated and the ‘HR’ indicator blinks 4 times, this is 4pm. If ‘AM’ is indicated and there are no ‘HR’ blinks then it is 12am (midnight) If ‘PM’ is indicated and there are no ‘HR’ blinks then it is 12pm (midday). NOTE: if the ‘TIME’ is indicated but neither ‘AM’ nor ‘PM’ are, then the clock is not being set.

Personalizing the Background Programs The Personalize function automatically calibrates the background programs to match with the users’ current state. Place the unit on the body, over the heart is a good place.

There are two ways for initiating the Personalize feature:

1. Press and hold the right Set button. Release when the LEDs start flashing.

2. Press both the set and status buttons at the same time.

The central yellow light will come on and the indicator lights will flash on and off in a clockwise direction for about 20 seconds as the personalization process is running. When it is finished, the lights will go out and the unit resumes to auto background mode.

NOTE: personalize only works if the time has been set. NOTE: The personalize settings will remain set for 21 days and are then automatically cleared. This happens as the body changes over time and the unit needs to re-synchronize on a regular basis with a maximum of 21 days. When the personalize-settings are cleared, the device reverts to default program settings.

Battery Level

The battery level is indicated by pressing the left ‘Set’ button once where the yellow battery indicator and several red lights will come on. The number of red lights indicates the battery level:

• 4 red lights = fully charged • 3 red lights = good level of charge • 2 red lights = lower level of charge • 1 red light = low charge • Yellow battery light flashing = discharged

The battery level will show for a couple of seconds and then all the lights will go out.

Charging the Battery

The built in rechargeable battery is charged by inserting a micro USB lead into the socket in the side of the unit and connecting the other end into a USB charger or USB port on a computer. To open the USB port dust cover, insert a small screwdriver into the grove as shown and gently lever it open.

When charging the yellow battery light on the front panel will be illuminated and will stay illuminated for as long as the charger is attached. To check the battery level during charging it is best to disconnect the charging lead, wait a few moments and then hold in the button on the front panel until the battery light shows. A fully charged battery (four red lights) will give at least a month’s use of background programs.

Page 8: RedHealth c. Balance - Circadian Balance User Guide€¦ · the device over relevant acupoints as described in the ‘suggested use’ guide. Setting the Time Built into the c. Balance

The time required to charge the battery will depend on how discharged the battery is. If the battery level is at two red lights then a full charge will take around 7 hours. If the battery is fully discharged (flashing battery light) then a soak charge of 20 hours is recommended.

NOTE: If the battery is left in a depleted state then the unit will go into hibernation mode and the background programs and user programs will no longer run. When the left button is pressed, depending on the batter discharge state, either the battery light will flash a few times or will not light at all. It is necessary to recharge the unit to make it active again.

NOTE: If the unit is going to remain unused for several months then it is recommended to fully charge the unit, put it into sleep mode and give it a recharge every six months to preserve the battery. If the battery is left fully discharged then it may start to deteriorate.

Putting the unit into Sleep Mode: The unit can be put into sleep mode when not being used to save battery power and the effective output from the unit is stopped, however the clock will keep time. To put the unit into sleep mode press and keep holding in the left button where first the battery level will be indicated and then after a couple of seconds all the red lights will show and go out one at a time in a clockwise direction indicating the device is in sleep mode. Let go of the button.

To wake from sleep mode press in and hold the left button until the red lights start to light up one at a time in an anticlockwise direction before they all go out. The unit is then in the normal operating mode.

Note: When sleep mode is entered the personalization-settings are cleared so it will be necessary to re-personalize the unit after waking from sleep mode.
