Hemorrhages of the leg (often inner thigh), result of septicemia.

Aeromonas hydrophila is the most common bacteria know to cause red leg.

Less common bacteria are Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Citrobacter, Salmonella, and Escherichia coli.

Animal(s) may lose appetite and become weak or lethargic.

Hemorrhages may be the size of a pinpoint or very large.

Bacterial Cultures and sensitivities should be performed on affected animals; proper antibiotics will be determined from tests.

The cause of the infection should be corrected immediately, and affected animal(s) should be separated and kept under careful watch.
