Red Dead Redemption, Placement

Red Dead Redemption was distributed after a previously held back release date, it was released into stores and for online purchase. It was sold in various retail shops across the world, some of the larger companies such as GAME, HMV and also supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda or Sainsburys. As the game is also available online for all of the stores previously listed it is also available at other online only shopping services such as Ebay, Amazon or Play.com.

Rockstar releasing a high profile game such as Red Dead Redemption would be a worldwide process, different time zones would be provided with the game at certain times. It was first released for the PS3 and Xbox360 on May 18th 2010. It could then be brought from both the Playstation Store and Xbox Online store for digital purchasing. Soon after the game was released additional downloadable content (DLC) such as Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, which was also released as a standalone game, and then ʻA Game of the Year Editionʼ containing all additional content; this was released in October 2011.

Also advertising their PlayStationPlus membership at the same time, it is common for companies to advertise their own products whilst selling on their own webpage or in this case a Playstation server.
