R e c y c l i n g m e a n s p r o c e s s i n g u s e d materials in order to create new products. Thanks to this we can not o n l y a v o i d w a s t i n g materials that can still be useful, but also reduce the use of new raw materials, of energy and diminish air and water pollution. This idea has

existed for a very long time in history. There are different forms of collecting recyclable materials:

-through mixed waste collection (the materials have to be separated and cleaned). The advantage is that the city or town has no costs for separate collection and there is no need for public education about this subject.

-through separated collection. The advantage is the cost of cleaning is reduced. The disadvantage is the cost of public education.

The recyclable materials are paper, glass, plastic, metal, textile and electronics. They are brought to a collection centre, they are divided-cleaned and reprocessed.

In Chiari we have the separated waste collection; in fact we have 5 types of containers: in the dark green containers we put glasses and cans, in the light green containers we put organic waste, in the white containers we put paper and in the grey we put the rest of the rubbish. Once a week put the plastic in a yellow sack and leave it outside our houses and it is collected.

Recycling is very important for our Earth. What are you waiting for? Recycle!

Linkin Park is a rock band. It was born in the ‘90s and their first album was published in 2000. Its name was “Hibrid Theory”. In this album there are 2 popular song: “Crawling” and “In the end”. This band is made up of a singer, two guitarists, a bassist, a mixerist, a rapper and a drummer. They also composed a lot of songs for the film “Transformers” like “What I’ve done”, “New divide” and “Iridescent”. Their other famous songs are “Bleed it out”, ”No more

s o r r o w ” , ”Numb” and “Somewhere I b e l o n g ”. Linkin Park a r e v e r y famous and they are our f a v o u r i t e band.

Ou school trip to Parmawritten by S. Festa (2C)

On the 4th of April I am going to Parma with my class 2C. We are travelling by bus. It will take about one hour and a half to get to Parma. Once there, we are visiting Teatro Farnese, the Cathedral and the Baptistery in the morning; Parco Ducale and Teatro Regio in the afternoon. We are having lunch at Circolo Dipendenti Comunali and hopefully going shopping. I like going shopping very much! It’s my first time in Parma and I’m so excited. I can’t wait!

Cyber bullying: a new type of bullying

Has anyone ever bullied you? 50% of students in Italy have been victims of bullying. Famous people like Tom Cruise, David Beckham, Kate Winslet and Orlando Bloom were all victims of bullying when they were at school. As you can see they are very successful people, now. Bullies didn’t win. Today there are cyber bullies, too. They use internet and mobile phone to attack their victims. Cyber bullying is becoming very common because bullies can hide themselves. Victims of bullying usually feel isolated. They do bad at school and become depressed. Tragically, some even commit suicide. School and police are taking very seriously every type of bullying. They are trying to help students and parents, too. If you are a victim of bullying, please talk to a person you trust. Report it to police if you receive threatening messages or you

think you are physically in danger.

Pope Francis was born in Buenos Aires on the 17th December 1936. His real name is Jorge Mario Bergoglio. His family has Italian origins. They come from Piedmont. When he was 21 because of pneumonia he suffered from pneumonia. Pope Francis graduated in Chemistry and worked in a factory. Some say that before starting his religious career he had a girlfriend. He chose the name Francis because he wants to follow Saint Francis legacy. Saint Francis used to help poor people. Pope Francis wants a church very close to poor and humble people. Hurrah Francis!

trip. They stayed at the Generator Hostel and

visited all the most important city monuments and

historical buildings. The class enjoyed the visit a

lot and strolled along the main malls in search for any possible souvenir. Most of the students chose

the Guinness Storehouse as the best attraction of

the city.

In our class 2D with a survey we l e a r n e d t h a t o u r classmates u s u a l l y drink half a l i t r e o f w a t e r every day.

Ten students eat only a portion of fruit or vegetables a week. Ten others eat two or three portions or fruit and vegetables. Seven students eat proteins once or twice a week. Eleven people eat proteins three or four times a week. One eats them everyday. Twelve people eat dairy products three or four times a week, six people eat them everyday and two people eat them once or twice a week. Fourteen people eat carbohydrates everyday, six people eat them three or four times a week and one person eats them once or twice a week. In the end, thirteen people don’t eat chocolate and biscuits very much. Two people eat a lot of biscuits and four people eat chocolate and biscuits once or twice a week. The outcome of our research is that most of the class has a healthy diet. Our parents must be very happy!
