Dear Parishioners & Friends of St. Ambrose, This has been a year that I do not believe that anyone of us could have predicted. The changing of seasons over the past several months have been marked by anxiety, uncertainty and a longing for ‘normal’. We are all groping to slowly find some sense of balance and the ‘new normal’ with all the necessary social distancing and restricted gathering sizes. One of the parishes efforts to move forward is to continue the long-standing tradition of the St. Ambrose Annual Clambake. In the past this event has been a time where parishioners, families and friends have gathered for an afternoon of good food, great music and long friendly conversations. In light of the health considerations due to COVID-19 pandemic, our Annual Clambake will not be like it has been in the past. We will miss the wonderful tradition of past years, but we are happy to announce our twist on the St. Ambrose Annual Clambake…

Dear Parishioners of St. Ambrose As we move forward: Public worship at St. Ambrose Church will continue observing all the safety measures that are deemed appropriate by state, church and health officials. As a reminder I will list... * To assist in prayerful social distancing we have taped off every other pew. So a pew that is taped off is one that you should not enter. This is to give space and distance between the worshipers. * The number of people that will be allowed to enter St. Ambrose Church for a mass has been set at 50 people. * All parishioners will be required to enter St. Amrbose Church through the center front door. Parishioners may exit byany door but entrance is only by the center front door. We will have hand sanitizing dispensers at the vestibule of St. Ambrose Church for parishioners use. Parishioners may also use their own personal hand sanitizing solution, but all parishioners will be expected to sanitize their hands immediately upon entry to the St. Ambrose Church. * Please remember that Bishop Tobin has continued to dispense everyone in the Diocese of Providence from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Day Masses until further notice. So if you are hesitant due to underlying health conditions to attend or display any symptoms you should not attend the celebration of Mass at St. Ambrose Church. * Parishioners are asked and encouraged to wear a face mask for the duration of the celebration of Mass, with the exception of receiving Holy Communion. * During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic all worship aids such as hymnals, missalettes, bulletins have all been removed from the church. We ask that you leave no items in the church. If you bring it in please take it with you. If you would like a missalette, please contact Robin at the St. Ambrose Parish Office at (401) 333-1568. Missalettes will be yours to keep whether you take it back and forth with you to mass or keep it at home for our live-stream mass. Please remember that we continue to live stream all our celebrations of Mass on the St. Ambrose Office of Faith Formation Facebook page. Also keep in mind that it is not necessary to receive Holy Communion at every Mass. If you are concerned or apprehensive about receiving, then please enter into a ‘spiritual communion’ with the Lord. Rev. Thomas J. Ferland
We continue to live-stream our weekday and weekend masses
on our Facebook page.

How do I make a Spiritual Communion?
Below are recommendations for how to make a ‘spiritual communion’ when unable to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass. These are only recommendations and can always be adapted based upon personal needs.
Gather with others in your household and begin a time of prayer with
the sign of the cross.
Take time to read and reflect upon the readings from
Sunday Mass. The readings are available at usccb.org and a Sun-day Gospel reflection can be found at the same website or during
Lent at dioceseofprovidence.org
Share prayer intentions quietly or aloud.
Pray the Lord’s Prayer.
Pray the following prayer of spiritual communion (see below).
Close with the sign of the cross.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
Come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there
And unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.

What is this journey in between the event we call “birth” and
the one we call “death”? Is the journey taking you some-
where, or are you leading yourself to some kind of destina-
tion – a destination that could extend beyond your last
breath? What do you want from your life during the in be-
tween? The questions are there. And, the answers are too.

Prayer for Healing from Coronavirus
-Pope Francis
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
