Good afternoon and thank you for this opportunity to report out on the work done on the Recruitment and Retention Task Force. Thank you to my colleagues and fellow task members for what I believe is outstanding work

Purpose

• Identify creative methods to recruit and retain nurses to the perioperative specialty.

Perioperative leaders continue to face challenges with effective recruitment and retention of perioperative RNs amid the ongoing nursing shortage. Effective recruitment and retention strategies in the perioperative environment are essential to maintain proper staffing that supports safe perioperative patient care. Directors, managers, educators, administrators, and other interested health care personnel will benefit by using the online collection of resources to support effective recruitment and retention of perioperative RNs

Initiatives1. Explore creative methods of recruitment of

novice and experienced nurses to the perioperative specialty.

2. Develop resources to assist educators and managers/directors in recruitment and retention

3. Develop a template for succession planning for key management positions in the operating room.

Included in the tool kit is a dedicated literature search for Recruitment and Retention. Although not exhative in all things R&R it has top literature and bibliographies in one setting organized in themes for easier search
