Can I employ international students?

While students are enrolled on a programme at The University of Manchester, international students are eligible to work part-time during their studies and full time during the summer or on a course-related industrial placement.

For more information on recruiting international students during and after study, see our website at:http://www.careers.manchester.ac.uk/recruit/studentgroups/international

Can I employ a student without a national insurance number?

It is legal to employ a student that has not yet obtained an NI number, provided they have the relevant permit and legal status. International students will often have no previous working experience in the UK so will not have a number until they apply for one, which can take some time to be processed. You should be able to give them a temporary number in the interim.
