Armstrong Liberty Tree Park is a great place to hold a child’s birthday party, or an intimate wedding. The gazebo at this beautiful park will hold up to 10 people. On site amenities include restrooms, walking paths with exercise stations, a playground and picnic shelters.

Children will be assigned to fields by age groups (3&4, 5&6, 7&8, 9&10) to collect eggs on their own.  Please bring a basket or bag for collecting eggs. PARENTS MAY NOT ASSIST CHILDREN IN THE COLLECTION OF EGGS.   A special visit by the Royal Easter Bunny will be made.

Combination;  Dance: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Folk, Interpretive;  Theatre: Dramatic or Comic Presentation;  Open: Any combination of Music, Dance, Theatre. Participants must come completely prepared with props, costumes, etc. Acts should not exceed 3 minutes. A CD player and a piano are available, but no accompanist. Please have all music cued. There is no charge for auditions. Selected contestants will perform on Friday, May 6th, 7:30 pm at Volunteer Park.

City of Plantation Calendar Photo Contest Open to amateurs and students. 

We’re looking for color photographs of your pets or favorite Plantation wildlife.  All entries should relate to the theme “The Animals of Plantation.”  Winning photos will be featured in the 2017 City Calendar. Photographers must be residents or employed within the City of Plantation. No age restrictions; all photos will be judged equally.

City Camps & Kids’ Day Off The City of Plantation offers recreation day camps for kids during spring and winter breaks, 

summer break and most days off throughout the school year.  The camps are fun‐filled and provide a wide range of activities. They are managed and run by City of Plantation Parks & Recreation staff members.  For information please call 954‐452‐2510.  

The City also offers specialty summer camp experiences such as Tennis Camp and Pool,  Share‐A‐Pony Camp, Camp Elite and the Golf Academy at Plantation Preserve. See pages 23‐25  for information on upcoming Spring Break and Summer Camps, and Kids’ Day Off programs.

General Information

REGISTRATION DATES   Registration Classes Begin

SPRING Feb 15-28 Feb 29 SUMMER May 16-29 May 31 The City reserves the right to add or cancel activities or classes and alter

the schedule if deemed necessary. Class books for each session will be available approximately one week prior to registration.

REGISTRATION FEE The registration fee for daily aerobics, all classes, programs, etc. is $5.

REGISTRATION TIMES Online registration is now available! You can sign up for select classes

on the web. Register early! All registrations are on a first come first serve basis. Two proofs of residency or Resident I.D. card must be provided at time of registration. Full payment is required at time of registration for all classes and the Kids’ Day Off Program. Supply fees are due the first day of class. No phone-in registrations will be accepted. Waiver forms must be signed for each participant, by the participant, or by a parent or guardian if under 18, in the presence of a City of Plantation Parks & Recreation Department employee. Otherwise the waiver form must be notarized prior to actual registration. Notary services are available on a limited basis.

RESIDENT POLICY The Plantation Parks and Recreation Department is operated on tax

dollars from the City of Plantation. Non-residents will be required to pay additional fees for certain classes and for use of the facilities. Residents must provide two proofs of residency at time of registration.

Resident Identification Cards are available for purchase at Central Park, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 8:30 pm and Saturday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at a cost of $3 per card. This is a non-refundable fee. Two proofs of residency are required.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURE All classes require a minimum enrollment. Classes will be cancelled if

requirements are not met. Refunds take approximately 4 weeks to process. There will be no refunds after the first week of class. To request a refund, you must contact the Parks & Recreation Department during the first week of class. A $15 cancellation fee will be charged.

HOLIDAY HOURS There are no classes on City of Plantation observed holidays. For up to

date information about holiday hours, please call 954-452-2510.

INSURANCE The City of Plantation Parks and Recreation Department does not carry

medical or accident insurance for the participants of its programs. The cost of doing so would be so high that fees charged for programs would become prohibitive. We suggest that you review your family’s personal health insurance plan to ensure that it provides sufficient coverage.

We also suggest that you check with your family physician before participating in any City programs that require physical exertion. If your physician should discover factors that could limit you physically, please consider them when registering for programs.

NOTICE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS In compliance with Public Law 101-336 Title 11, Section 202, we ask

you to notify the City of Plantation if the participant has special needs in order to participate. The City of Plantation will provide reasonable accommodations for disabled individuals requesting special assistance in order to attend or participate in meetings, classes or events, provided, however, that a request for such assistance be made to the Parks & Recreation Department 954-452-2516 at least five calendar days prior to the meeting, class or event.

Admission and programs are free and open to the public 

GENERAL INFORMATION  Plantation Historical Museum is a free, non‐profit 

Museum, preserving Plantation’s history for future generations. Our new Everglades Panorama features three‐dimensional Flora & Fauna, such as Florida panther cubs, turtle and heron, with special effects lighting, sounds and descriptive “reader rail.” We also have a Triceratops dinosaur skeleton and Florida Ice Age exhibit, dinosaur paintings by Kevin Wakefield, and various other exhibits.   

Permanent displays include Plantation Police and Fire Department memorabilia, the City’s first fire truck, a Seminole and Tequesta Native American exhibit, and “Plantation‐Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” a collection of historic photos and scrapbooks along with various items from the City’s past.  

The Museum also has a Gift Shop and Butterfly Garden. Various exhibits and programs are hosted throughout the year. Donations are appreciated and cameras are allowed. The Plantation Historical Society welcomes new members.

Swim Babies Swim  Ages 6 months to 3 years Babies learn to surface and float on their backs, should

SCUBA Diving Lessons  Ages 12 & up Become a PADI certified SCUBA diver. Class is comprised

Water Aerobics    Ages 18 & up A high energy, low impact exercise class performed in

Neighborhood Day Camp      Ages 5 – 11 Jim Ward Community Center, 301 N.W. 46th Avenue
