Balance activates after rain, and re-activates when it rains again.
Unlike many other pre-emergent soil applied herbicides, Balance does not need to be incorporated into the soil because it’s not affected by sunlight.
Because Balance is a non-volatile formulation, when applied, the active ingredient remains stable on the soil surface until weed-germinating rains occur.
Weeds exposed to Balance die as a result of the breakdown of chlorophyll in foliage by sunlight. Plants ‘bleach’ or turn white, which prevents them from manufacturing food through photosynthesis. Germinating weed seedlings generally fail to emerge from the soil if exposed to Balance.

Since it’s launch in 2000, Balance has demonstrated very effective control of a number of key broadleaf weeds. These include sow thistle, turnip weed, Indian hedge mustard, capeweed, prickly lettuce, wild radish, medic and crassula.
This performance is as a result of a unique property that allows Balance to ‘recharge’ when rainfall occurs, even after a prolonged dry period. When rain occurs, the more water the plant takes up, the more Balance it takes up.
Slow to degrade, Balance is not affected by UV sunlight.
