Dear applicant,
Thank you for taking some time to find out about Pimlico Primary.
Were a brand new non-selective and non-denominational primary school in the south of
Westminster. We open in a brand new building in September 2013 with our first two
Reception classes. Were currently looking to appoint two enthusiastic Reception Teachers
with the potential to make our school the best school in London.
Pimlico Primary is part of Pimlico Academy, a thriving secondary school. Were sponsored
by Future Academies, an educational charity, and its through this relationship with a highly
skilled and dedicated team of experts that I am confident Pimlico Primary will be a place to
grow both for our teachers and for the pupils who walk through our front door.
This is a very exciting time in education and the opportunity to set up a new school is rare.
At Pimlico Primary, there are some principles we embrace that make us different from other
state primary schools. In particular, we trust knowledge in the classroom because we know
that it makes a significant difference to the life chances of all pupils, regardless of their
background. This means that we spend more time than most schools thinking about the
nitty-gritty detail of the content of our curriculum and the best way to use this content in the
classroom.
Were in the very fortunate position to be able to draw on the resources of The Curriculum
Centre and, as part of our commitment to developing a pioneering knowledge-led curriculum
that benefits all our pupils, we are committed to the professional development of all ourstaff. For more information about our approach, please refer to the attached Information
Brief.
If youre excited about the possibility of contributing to the launch and development of a
pioneering school, then we very much look forward to hearing from you.
For further information and an application pack, please visit
www.pimlicoacademy.org/pimlico-primary . Applications should be made no later than 18th
March 2013. Interviews will take place during the week beginning 25thMarch 2013. If you

About Pimlico Primary
Pimlico Primary is a brand new non-selective and
non-denominational two-form entry school in South
Westminster. The school will open with two
Reception classes in September 2013 and grow,
year by year, until we have a full complement of
pupils in 2019.
Were expecting 37% of our pupils to be eligible for
Free School Meals and many will speak English as
an additional language. We received a lot of
parental support during our consultation with the public prior to receiving approval to open
from the Secretary of State for Education; therefore, we are expecting most pupils will live
within the local area.
A Unique Opportunity
Pimlico Primary will open in a new designed
building that has been specially designed to
support our knowledge-led curriculum. Our
classrooms are currently blank canvases and our
founding Reception teachers will have the unique
opportunity to turn them into beautiful spaces to
teach and learn.
The primary school building will also have a
designated outdoor and sheltered teaching and learning space for Reception children, library with adjoining roof terrace garden, The Lab a room for practical science and art
work, a hall, staffroom and fully resourced PPA room for curriculum development.
Expanding a Successful School
Pimlico Primary is part of Pimlico Academy, an outstanding secondary school with a
specialism in History and the Arts. Pimlico Primary shares a site with Pimlico Academy and,
in addition to Pimlico Primarys brand new facilities, teachers and pupils will have access to
the wide range of specialist rooms and resources at the Academy, including drama studios,
music rooms, and outdoor sporting facilities.
A Family of Schools
Future Academies sponsors Pimlico Primary. Future
Academies is an educational charity that aims to help young
people succeed. It believes that, with the right support,
encouragement and opportunities, there are no limits to what
children can achieve.
On joining Pimlico Primary, Reception teachers will become
part of the Future Academies family of schools, including Pimlico Academy (secondary) and
Millbank Academy, an outstanding primary school only a stones throw from Pimlico
Primary. Such close relationships with neighboring schools enable us to share effective
practices and training opportunities.

Our Approach
Teaching and Learning
Our approach is coherent, cumulative and curriculum-led. We believe that, with the
right preparation and delivery of classroom resources, pupils can engage with a broad
range of different subjects from the day they start Reception. Our curriculum is knowledge-
led, which means that in addition to the important disciplines of English and Maths, our
pupils will spend more time than other primaries focusing on History, Geography, Science,
and the Arts. And theyll be able to do this meaningfully: we know that the small details add
up, so we spend time carefully thinking about the content and sequence of our curriculum,
and the best way to deliver it in the classroom.
This is pioneering work, so we are part of an
approachable and supportive network with the
expertise necessary to guide teachers in theirunderstanding and implementation of the
knowledge-led curriculum. Future Academies
Director of Education and The Curriculum Centre
work with Pimlico Primarys staff and play an
important role in the planning and development of
the curriculum.

Raising Aspirations
We believe its our responsibility to broaden our
pupils horizons. Our knowledge-led curriculum
gives pupils the means to explore and enjoy a
world beyond their immediate environment.
Alongside this, our comprehensive Raising
Aspirations Programme opens up a world of people
and opportunities that demonstrate that, with effort
and determination, the skys the limit of their
achievement.
More Time for Learning
We will encourage all children to participate in a wide range of after school clubs and we
expect some of these to be led by our teachers.
Pupils in Years 3 to 6 will have a longer school day. This enables us to dedicate sufficient
time to studying a broad range of subjects. It also means we can incorporate many of the
extra-curricula activities we think its important all pupils participate in team sports,
debating, computer clubs - into the school day.

Our Commitment to Teachers
A Place to Grow: Training and Professional Development
Whether you are an experienced teacher or NQT, we know that training and professionaldevelopment is what keeps you confident in the classroom.
Overseen by Future Academies, Pimlico Primary works closely with The Curriculum Centre
and other training providers to ensure you receive bespoke training that makes a difference
to your classroom practice.
We place a particular emphasis on curriculum development training and you will be
supported in your use of existing resources and develop the knowledge and skills in order to
make your own. In order to accommodate this training, weve built an additional 10
(maximum) paid days training into the academic year. We also have a dedicated curriculum
development and resources room, so that you have all the materials you need to makeeffective and efficient use of your PPA time.
Our team of Assistant Teachers who are employed to work from 8am to 5pm, will be able to
support you in your preparation of materials after school, in addition to their support during
the school day.
Pimlico Primary is a new school and in the first year our team of staff will be small. As the
school grows year by year, so too do the range of exciting opportunities and responsibilities
for our existing staff.
Terms and Conditions
Pimlico Primary operates its own terms and conditions.
School day: The school day for Reception to Year 2 is 9am to 3.40pm. Staff will normally
be required on site from 8am-5pm. Parents evenings, training, school events, trips or other
activities will require staff to work flexibly, including additional hours, as required.
Role models: We expect our teachers to act as role models for our pupils. Meal times are
an important opportunity for pupils to learn how to interact with their peers in an informal
environment. As such, we provide free healthy lunches for our teachers and expect them to
eat with their pupils.

Pay: We want to attract the best teachers to our school because we know they make a
significant difference to the life chances of the pupils who walk through our doors.
By having our own terms and conditions, we are able to offer attractive starting salaries. As
part of our Performance Management Programme, we are able to reward high performing
teachers with pay increases beyond what they would expect in a maintained school.
Pimlico Primary also offers use of the Academys on-site gym, interest free season ticket
loanand childcare vouchers scheme.
