Direct Impact of the heavy rains in Chennai 2015

Schools were closed for nearly 19 days Normal life affected Patients, Old People were much affected Office goers could not return home on time No productivity in offices Street Vendors and small business people affected Vegetable and other essential products were costly Water logging everywhere Drainage got mixed with the normal water Blame games in television channels/more debates only Roads were very bad Many people lost their lives Lots of people fell sick Drinking water became scarce Lakes were let open in and around Chennai Flood alert came as a shock to Chennai People in Low areas

Alarming situation – people were scared of

Perambur, Velachery, Perumbakkam, Perambur, Ambattur, Korattur, Villivakkam, Perangalathur, Mudichur, Triplicane, Saidapet, Jaffrakhanpet, Ponneri, Madhavaram, Thodairpet, Ennore were danger areas.

Aranganathan subway, Duraisamy subway, Alandur subway, Chetpet subway were easily full

Many lost their essential items at home Many children lost their books and note books Public transport came to rescue in many places Essential services worked very hard Electricity was cut in many places for over 48 hours IT companies shifted their employees to other locations Public became the local journalists Lots of young volunteers worked as saviours
